Ever wonder why the Buddha is portrayed as this big hefty guy and yet all his followers are skinny?

(This a genuine question by a self-confessed moron. Don't get offended) 😅

Look at the various Buddha statues. There are plenty of him young, skinny and all serious looking. And others where he’s old fat and happy looking. Moral of the story, grow up to be old, fat and happy 😇

The fat buddha isnt really a buddha. It's the male version of a female bodhisatva and it's supposed to help you get wealthy. It's used in restaurants to show if you are successful you can eat a lot and be fat. Our real buddha ate one meal a day, whatever was put in his begging bowl unless he was invited to dinner, which he often was.
