latest one is tzumi brand with lidar; works well (most of my floor is hardwood/laminate /w carpeted bedrooms), can control from phone (it creates map & shows everywhere it's been, can create zones, give restrictions, set up schedules, etc.). cleans better than I ever could, doesn't miss spots and gets around/under furniture well
they don't like loose clothes or thick rugs (tend to get stuck). You gals will spend a lot of time getting hair out of them as it gets hung in spinners and brushes (I swear some of you shed hair worse than a dog...)
it usually doesn't have issues with high thresholds or getting around dining room chairs, it occasionally gets stuck around them (I normally put chairs up anyhow)
much quieter than my previous ones (only makes noise when going over thresholds and running heavy duty mode over carpet)
normally like $500-600, I got it for a little under $200 on sale

I have one, the only problems I've found is if you have raised furniture and it's not quite high enough, it sometimes gets stuck under it. It can also get stuck under the dining table where there are chairs too. It also can't be used where there are stairs and thick rugs can also be a problem. On the whole though, I think they are good if you have a minimalist house or if you put your dining chairs up on the table. It's best to shut the door and let it do one room at a time. I find it most effective to let it do its thing whilst I'm home, then I can go rescue it if it gets stuck somewhere. It does a pretty good job. I can't remember what brand it was, I pimped mine up by covering it in shiny sticky plastic and a pair of big googly eyes 👀 it wasn't one of the top priced ones. I think I paid about £200 but that was a couple of years ago.

@Simplyme33 It won't be perfect. You could pick your rugs up and pull out your chairs or put them on the table. I think it really does cut down on vacuuming time. I put mine on whilst we are watching TV.

I just got one a week ago. An offbrand one as I didn't know how my cat would deal with it. She just kinda stalks and watches it it. First thing I noticed is that it's loud even on the lowest fan setting. You will still need to clear cords and other loose items out of the room. Best to put chairs up on the table. Sometimes it senses the wall and then other times it gently bumps into it then turns around. I can be a little ditzy lol

@jshm2 that is exactly what Im deciding on. I have a maid that comes over once a month. But house gets messy and needs cleaning more than that. So Im thinking whether to ask her come every two weeks or buy a robotic vaccum cleaner

It's pretty smart, not exactly quiet but idc, does a pretty good job of getting under stuff. The only downside is that there's a camera on it so the NSA can see my balls.

It probably says that because the device has a mopping feature. The mopping feature will only activate on hard floors but it will still vacuum as normal on carpet.

If you have pets that shed...then yes it is worth it. We have a few , One up stairs and down and a couple at the farm. We avoided the wet dry ones, sticking with the dry since we no longer have pets. Once they are programmed , they do a great job and your floors always look fresh.
Shark AV2501S...About 400 , has an app for your phone and it will message you if it has an issue . Does a good job. We replaced a roomba with this unit. Is a little heavier and has good suction.

@Simplyme33 we don't own our privacy anymore, and I bet those robot vacuums comes with an app. Some devices we don't own... it's a privilege for now on.
