How do you turn your brain on? Like activate study mode?

Cause it feels like mine is stuck in sleep/airplane mode. I try to read something to learn and the information goes through my brain like a sieve these days. I got to read it 3 or 4 times and maybe in a weeks time my brain is like, 'hey you know something.'
But most times it's snippets of information I remember from things I probably wasn't paying close attention to at the time...

Doing something physical works for me, I have to move if I have to focus, too much time sitting and I can't think. I also use aromatherapy a lot, a few drops of rosemary oil on a tissue or in a diffuser is great for clearing your head and getting your brain working.

I've been that way. I had to take anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology and there were days when it felt like things were bouncing off my brain rather than sticking to it. And that made me feel uninterested so i had to snap out if it. What helped me was studying at a library or something where theres no distractions because i couldn't do it at home. I made a bunch of flash cards and forced myself to concentrate.

The brain can function in "study mode" for 20 to 30 minutes before is loses efficiency. So study fot half an hour and take a 15 minute break. Preferably outside and away from a screen. Walking the dog is perfect. Then return for another session when the mind has reset. And it will. Because you engaged the body and disengaged the mind with gentle physical activity.😷

Try breaking it down into smaller bits, take short breaks, maybe reward yourself at the end of each section of study?
