It's different for everyone, I think what you do in that time is more important than the time itself. I didn't move on from mine until I released my unspoken feelings many years later, it's trapped emotions, things you want to say, they stay repressed in the body until you let them leave.

I could move on after that, I gave them the same opportunity. You'll always remember them, the good and the bad, but it won't hurt with time.

It took me like 5 years to get over one ex (abusive one) and the other (crazy one) ended in circumstances that make it impossible to ever have any closure. It’ll be unresolved and not make sense forever. It has been almost 10 years with her, I think she’s gonna have me fucked up the rest of my life.
