Do you believe in luck? How much does it matter in your life?

Top | New | Old
No. I will always wish people the best and tell them I will pray for them, but I do not believe in luck. Nothing happens by chance. That is my belief, anyway. To me, luck is superstitious. That's not the way God operates.

The Bible consistently speaks against luck and superstition, emphasizing instead the sovereignty of God and the importance of trusting in Him. It views practices like divination, interpreting omens, or using lucky charms as attempts to manipulate spiritual forces or predict the future, which are considered detestable and contrary to faith in God.

@LadyGrace The words “Luck” and “Lucifer” both begin with the same 3 letters.
@cherokeepatti Wow, an interesting observation. Very cool. 👏 Thanks for sharing that.
I thought luck was anything good that can come out of a bad situation or you miss death by a fraction when someone cuts you up on the road. In each case like many others in different contexts, luck is very real. God knows who’s saying they don’t believe in it, luck literally could be the only reason they’re still alive.

No, I believe in prayer. I have seen it at work.

@AbbeyRhode Amen 🙏🙏🙏
My best guess is that the laws of the universe have fundamental randomness at their base. Thus the universe is not clockwork determinism, and outcomes can only be predicted within a statistical range. I think the notion of personal luck (or the lack thereof) is pure superstition.

No, but when I was playing football and baseball, I always followed the same routines...just in case.
@exexec same for every sport I played. Hockey was new laces on the skates and new tape job on the twig if it was a garbage game.
exexec · 70-79, C
@DrawntoaDistance I think you have to do things like that. I always dressed the same way, starting at the same time, being taped first, before every football game. In baseball, I had a pre-bat routine and once in the batter's box, I always did the same things.

I do believe you have more good luck if you think you deserve it. Mindset matters
I believe in luck when it happens, and I get lucky.
I believe some times things happen out of luck and not for a specific reason.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
Well, I can't count the number of times that I should have been dead, starting as a fetus.

Is that luck or randomness?

Remember there's only 8.2 billion people on this world currently. Far less back in 1959. 2.97 billion approximately.

I not sure! I don’t buy lottery tickets

I believe in randomness that occasionally lines up in our favor.

It matters a great deal. Almost more than skill.

Luck doesnt exist. What happens happens because it was destined to.
