What do envision retirement to be like?

I know a lot of you are quite young and for many retirement seems to be elusive; but when that day comes, what do you envision doing? I am having difficulty adjusting. Part of it is this cold weather that prevents me from getting outside. I am volunteering at the church, reading, cooking/baking, and still selling a few clamps. Need to get back into learning spanish. Just wish these feelings of anxiety and depression would go away.

How does one deal with watching savings start being repleted instead of growing?

How do you tell people and institutions you have helped financially that you can't do it anymore.
I doubt I'll be able to retire. I think retirement was for the boomers and the later generations are going to be stuck working till they die.

Plus both my parents retired and died within a few years, so maybe it's best I stay working.

I'll probably end up living in a van so my son can have everything. Maybe working remotely so I can still enjoy a bit of travel.

@MarbleMarvel they kind of have it figured out to keep us working until stastically we're dead so as to avoid having to pay social security. The average age of men having heart attacks is 65 so now the retirement age is 67 and they'd really like us to wait until 70.to withdraw anything.

Oh man, my country is falling apart right in front my eyes, the retirement isn't something I'd count on even if I was paying my social insurance now. I'd only think about it if I moved to a country with stable economy and found a stable job.

I would love to retain the family hunting ranch and buy a house in the keys with a boat. And I will travel back and forth between the two places spending an equal amount of time and have a comfortable amount of money in the bank. Half of my life would be in the woods. The other half would be on the beautiful deep blue sea

@KingofBones1 i still have the family farmstead up north. It's a lot of work keeping it mowed and the trees trimmed.
My gf has a lake cabin. So i seem to spend most of my time driving feverously up and down the road in the summer.

It can be tough. Fortunately, our investments have grown faster than we have spent them, so we are okay financially. Feeling useful is more difficult. I do volunteer work, which helps. I also teach a class, and I have to study, which keeps my brain working. The growing old physically is hard to handle.
