Do you feel we are conditioned to be unsatisfied with our lives?

I don't know if it's a societal thing or what, but I am just recently learning to overcome this
deadgerbil · 22-25
There is a strong sentiment in society of always trying to work harder and climb up the ladder. That being content means your not ambitious and lazy
caccoon · 36-40
@deadgerbil hmm true. I think growth in all ways is always important, and so is ambition (SIN)
Very much so. Strong societal messaging, driven in large part by advertising and social media, 365/24/7 telling us we’re not successful enough, rich enough, smart enough, attractive enough, popular enough, strong enough, disciplined enough, etc., etc., etc…….

Takes a whole lot to get off that merry-go-round and live life as we see fit.

@OlderSometimesWiser very astute answer and great insight. The merry go round ride ends when you step away and realize the things that are important to you. Not what your told you have to have.

I think it’s human nature to gradually become less satisfied with what we already have.
wackidywack · 22-25
Not particularly, conditioning is based on learning but what is conditioned can almost always be unlearned, just exactly like what you're up to lately 🧡 doing good btw
We're conditioned to be good worker drones. That's pretty much it

I don't need to reply. @OlderSometimesWiser has the best comment

Yeah, I think we are.

Not really conditioned, but I think it's common for everyone to pass through a stage in life where they feel dissatified.

The irony is that even when we think our lives are boring - it can be hard to accept change.

Humans will never get humanity right.
DearAmbellina2113 · 41-45, F
I feel like we are conditioned to believe that we're all supposed to want the same life. So that's the life most people strive for, even though it isn't even what they really want. That's why they're dissatisfied.

I think the conditioning to be fearful and unsatisfied is constant - it’s motivated by greed and the need for control

We are conditioned to be afraid of being different and fear different people too. No wonder if we look at the witch hunts.
DDonde · 31-35, M
I don't know but I also think we're constantly looking at each other's lives, moreso than we used to historically
caccoon · 36-40
@DDonde that's a good point

Yup. Content people are harder to sell to.
