Getting up quickly when sitting on the floor.

HumanEarth · 56-60, F
To be able to read tiny fine print. I now need a magnifying glass. As I'm getting older I have the feeling I will be like the rest of the members on my side of the family. After 70 were almost blind.

Doing backbends. My body sternly rejects the crap out of doing them now.
HumanEarth · 56-60, F
Amazing I can some how still bend myself backwards and pop back up like nothing.

I know, because for shits and giggles I just tried it to see if I can still do it.

I'm shocked that I can

Being wild and care free! I've become an introverted recluse.
@Dusty101 ty for being my friend. Hope you are having a wonderful day.

@DarkHeaven and you too! I'm just chilling with boo cat watching the storm outside! 💞
@Dusty101 Ooo. Storms are fun. It’s snow and cold where I’m at. Brrr. 🥶

Talking to people. I used to be very socially active and loved to be around people, talking to them. But when I got the original Covid in early 2020, it affected my voice and now my voice is extremely hoarse, shaky, and quiet and no one can understand anything I say and I am very self conscious and completely avoid talking to people unless I have to. I have given up all social interaction. Work is a nightmare because I work customer service and have to talk to people and no one understands me and I have to repeat myself and people are always asking me what happened to my voice.
@Mardrae That sucks. I worked with a woman who had throat surgery, and afterwards her voice was a whisper. I'm sure it was frustrating for her and others, especially when everything she said had a response of "what?" Any chance it will improve?
Mardrae · F
@BrewCityBarfly I have no idea. I have 2 mast cell diseases from Covid and my voice gets a lot worse when I am in a flare, so I guess it's an ongoing thing. I just avoid people now. Gave up my religion, dating, everything.
@Mardrae Sorry about that. I'll save any advice, I'm sure you've explored all kinds of things. Hoping it gets better and you can get back to some form of normalcy.
Roller skating. My sense of balance was once much better.
@bijouxbroussard did you see the post where my wife took me roller skating at the rink recently?
When I was younger I used to entertain/freak out people by walking the top rail of bridges high above rivers.
I had really good balance in those days, I wouldn't do it now.

Walking. I could walk for miles and loved it. Then I got arthritis and struggle to do any great distance.
ArtieKat · M
@meggie That's a crap affliction for someone as (comparatively) young as you 😔
meggie · F
@ArtieKat it is but I've heard of children even having it.
I was a pretty good bowler and I've been pretty dismal this season.

Doing the the half-spinal twist in yoga. I used to be able to place my elbow against my knee. Can't do it anymore. Now I have to do the easy version, placing my hand on my knee.

A long long time ago, I could do the 'mill circle' on a high bar easily. Now, my shoulders are nearly dislocated when I lift my arms to simply grab the bar. I guess I need to lower the bar...
Ontheroad · M
I mistakenly thought (showing off) I could still kick the top of the doorway... yeah, not even, nope, but it did provide some levity for those watching.

It still hurts though 😁

I can still play my bass guitar. I still practice, but thinking about passing it down to my grandson.
