Read Urban Dictionary so you can be down with the kids

Just grab a book, and be curious about those words you understand by logic but not exactly. Look those up to get the story better. Slowly, over time, you will feel yourself using some of them because you will then have a better understanding of them :)
Besides, isn't it beautiful to revive different words instead of multiple repetitions of the same word? *** I am guilty of repetitions as well lol. Definitely, learning more is a matter of curiosity :)

@Busybee333 thats exactly it! I want to increase my vocabulary and knowledge
@Busybee333 That is good advice and why I have returned to Iris Murdoch. Totally out of fashion, but she writes quintessential English. A time before the Internet.

I was going to read all the Maps backwards until I realized it would be just Spam:)
The INTERNET put a stop to that, and the infusion of American English into our language has been lamentable. So we can no longer spell.

Having said that, there are some great American authors. As a man you would be hard to beat Ernest Hemingway

But in England they still let Dickens drone on in schools.
That’s huge!

Indubitably

concordance. cyclopedia
Nah, don't bother, only the pretentious care about "fifty dollar words".
@NativePortlander1970 Actually I’ve got nothing against American English, and my favourite author in my late teens was Ernest Hemingway. If we limit our vocabulary, we diminish our thinking.
@sunriselover Our vocabulary as a whole is fine as it is as long as context and comprehension is understood, we do not need to interject words that the general public does not utilize on a daily basis in our conversations when they are not needed. Doing so is seen as pretentious and alienating.
