An idle mind is the devil's playground. But the good news is, you don't have to entertain him. You know the difference between right and wrong, so that puts you in control of what you think and do, 24/7. We don't have to think about things we don't want to. This is where you must train your mind, the minute you catch yourself thinking about sad things in the past or whatever makes you sad, or worries you. Stop right there and train your mind to think of or do something else. And right then and there you can turn to the Lord and tell him all your cares and worries, and ask Him to guide you to the right answers. Take your cares to the Lord. He will listen and help you. We do not have to be a slave to our thoughts. Don't let thoughts of yesterday, steal joy from today.
Faith does not mean trusting God to stop the storm. If He did, we'd never learn the lesson, and grow from it. It means trusting Him to strengthen us, as we walk through the storm.
Problems never go away until we learn what we need to learn and change what we need to change. They are not there to hurt us. They are there to teach us. Yet we want to be stubborn and not listen. We want to do things our way, and say, "I'm doing it, anyway!" That's when we make things even worse, because as much as we'd like to think so, we are not smarter nor wiser than God. God gave us our conscience for a reason. It serves as a red light, warning us of danger ahead. Its purpose,is to save us a whole lot of trouble and sorrow in our lives.
God knows we have enough intelligence to figure things out on our own. It's just that things go SO much better and smoother, when we seek our Father's guidance and wisdom... just as we did when we were kids. Some learned that the hard way. I do know that dad never lead me astray. A good father, won't.
