What's your best advice for someone who is suicidal?

it's a permanent solution but the problem may only be temporary

Try to get them help asap.

That's a tough call. It depends so much on what they're dealing with. There's no one-size-fits-all when it comes to this.

But in any case, I would let them know you're there to support them the best way you can.

So often, suicidal people really don't want to die, they just want relief from their pain.

Attentive, active listening can help a lot. Just letting them talk about whatever they want to talk about, even if it's gibberish, can sometimes be relieving. A loving ear can also help them feel valued.

You might mention the positive aspect you see in them, and let them know you're there for them to listen to anything they might care to share.

I'd tell them that they have gone this far. So even if it's not perfect they're strong.
That life will end up at some point. That I understand them.

Really depends on the situation, but at the basic level that people care deeply about them and they can (easily) and should get help.

“It didn’t come to stay, it came to pass”…

Don't do it. If the Christians are right, you'll end up in hell, which is worse than whatever you're going through. If the atheists are right, you'll end up nowhere. And if the folks like me are right, you'll be reincarnated into a situation that's even worse. You might not even be human next time around.
