What's your best advice for someone who is suicidal?

That's a tough call. It depends so much on what they're dealing with. There's no one-size-fits-all when it comes to this.

But in any case, I would let them know you're there to support them the best way you can.

So often, suicidal people really don't want to die, they just want relief from their pain.

Attentive, active listening can help a lot. Just letting them talk about whatever they want to talk about, even if it's gibberish, can sometimes be relieving. A loving ear can also help them feel valued.

You might mention the positive aspect you see in them, and let them know you're there for them to listen to anything they might care to share.
