Can someone please explain how

Washing machines, dishwashers, dryers are supposed to save time, but we have managed to not have more time?

I wonder how many people are truly comfortable with having free time

DownTheStreet · 56-60, M
@Mindful yeah it’s like people have to to figure time, the art of chill is lost
Mindful · 56-60, F
@DownTheStreet I do think it’s important to find a balance one is comfortable with ( or uncomfortable if that’s your thing- for some pain=gain)
SweetMae · 70-79, F
Women started working more to help pay for the luxury of the modern appliances.
Mindful · 56-60, F
@SweetMae have in-laws in Colorado that do t use anything that produces waste
SweetMae · 70-79, F
@Mindful Maybe that is a peaceful way to live.
Mindful · 56-60, F
@SweetMae yes theirs is a very peaceful lifestyle
Niloo · 51-55, F
Because we constantly find ourselves more things to do
smiler2012 · 61-69
@Niloo precisely
Harriet03 · 46-50, F
Men are doing less.
(If that's even possible)!!!
smiler2012 · 61-69
@Harriet03 my comment was meant in good humour
Mindful · 56-60, F
@smiler2012 I think we all are here to smile a little and picking on each other does add to the fun

If you aren’t right there doing dishes and laundry by hand yourself, then your time is free for other things.
SW-User
@Mindful Although, loading a dishwasher would take a bit more 🤔
Mindful · 56-60, F
@SW-User lol yes sometime I skip it. Just hand wash.
Mindful · 56-60, F
@SW-User I can’t stand wrinkled clothes! One has to watch what is washed !:-O
Ksmile14 · F
You filled the time you saved with other stuff. We always feel like we need to be doing something all the time. I don't think it's healthy for us, but we do it. :(
We do have more time, to do other things
smiler2012 · 61-69
@Mindful no why do you ask 😆
Mindful · 56-60, F
@smiler2012 tbh Not understand Your comment about going house to house
smiler2012 · 61-69
@Mindful sorry i meant to say i went all around the houses to make my point. it means i was a bit long winded in my explanation to make my point 😆
Nanori · F
science gave us more time but we never learned how to use our free time effectively, many of us are busy doing nothing
Mindful · 56-60, F
👏 even tho I am guilty, I applaud this as truth@Nanori
Can you imagine if we didnt have those time savers??
Mindful · 56-60, F
@Soossie noooooooo that life is not for me.
@Mindful

Lolol... so stop complaining... ;)
Mindful · 56-60, F
@Soossie it was an amusing thought l(s) the ironies
ozgirl512 · 31-35, F
You fell for the marketing line
Mindful · 56-60, F
@ozgirl512 clever girl
ozgirl512 · 31-35, F

We have more things to do that have filled our time. Including social media.
SW-User
@SW-User it's obvious but reading it here, a revelation too.
SW-User
minimalism is the only thing that can really save you time
Mindful · 56-60, F
@SW-User I agree
SW-User
@Mindful not that profitable though in its core, so it can only be marketed periodically as a fashion
Subsumedpat · 41-45, M
You might be right, the tub with the crank roller dryer then as it comes out hand on the clothes line and you are done. No waiting for an hour for the washing machine to finish then waiting for an hour for the dryer to finish.
Mindful · 56-60, F
@Subsumedpat I like those! They have them at the car washes now
Subsumedpat · 41-45, M
@Mindful Yea you work till it is done, no waiting on machines.
Mindful · 56-60, F
@Subsumedpat you still have to hang dry or fluff dry but they are very cool. Not the best out come for a womans clothing
Gusman · 61-69, M
Because the time saved using them is allocated to doing other "Stuff"
smiler2012 · 61-69
{@mindful] all i can think is you do save time but with that time you save you find other jobs to occupy that time rather than idling the time away so hence permentally busy because you are are doing tasks you never planned to do it the first place in the spare time you have acquired 🤷‍♂️ well i know what i am driving it 😆
Mindful · 56-60, F
@smiler2012 I do get it... I just think it’s funny that occasionally I don’t have the time to do laudry! Or cook!
After a week learning the user menu, and sorting error codes to mine,
turns out I'm actually the inefficient one.
Watching a load or filling my time with more things to do, rather than having my machines work for me.
Mindful · 56-60, F
Error codes???? You need to buy a used washing machine lol one that is more simplistic. That’s going to become a thing someday. @SethGreene531

Wait, your handwashing now? Be honest..
@Mindful It was a front loader from an electronics mfg. firm. I miss the top load you could add to anytime. Simple to own..and fix!

Lol, no handwashing. Learned how to get it to do what I want now. There's horror stories though, about some of the complicated brands..ie those synced to your smartphone. Terribly unreliable.
AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M
We mismanage our time
Mindful · 56-60, F
@AthrillatheHunt I am guilty of that RIGHT now
AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M
@Mindful we all are. Lol
Buying that stuff to save time was another Edward Bernays LIE

Same lie got women to smoke ciggies in public and make the medical racket very rich, having babies in the hospital did that too. Big Pharma got started bigtime around those days...and medicating nut cases got going big round then

and autism was maybe one in a hundred thousand.

and everyone was brainwshed to consume like it was the new amerikan religion

true story.
MartinTheFirst · 26-30, M
women started working
Mindful · 56-60, F
@MartinTheFirst so, more time to make money :-)
MartinTheFirst · 26-30, M
@Mindful more time to spend it
