When you feel down about your life, do you ever stop to think that you aren't the only one?

Every person on this planet has a story to tell. Every person has experienced happiness and every person has experienced tragedy.
That is what life is all about! It might suck right now, but it always changes. Life always changes. It is only a series of good and bad things, positive and negative, yin and yang.
That is what I remind myself of when I want to feel better. What about you?

The reason people would feel down about life is because they believe life is meant to be fun and enjoyable, rather than just an epic experience that can be inspiring or horrific. All pain comes from unmet expectations. Life is mostly just a struggle to live the best you can against a stacked deck.

haha. I'm a fan of Spartan culture. In that society, which lasted 300 years - far longer than our modern day ideals have lasted, the greatest glory was to die fighting, the greater the odds against you, the more glorious it was deemed. The harder life is, the more opportunities for happiness. I have a prediction that in the present day, where most people are grasping for meaning where morals are endlessly relative, the foundations of society are falling away and so little seems sacred, it's people who hold personal truths like this to be self-evident who will keep going.

I couldn't agree more. I love what you have to say!

@TwiddlerOfThumbs: "Cry" is broad term. Do you mean have I ever heard an animal cry out in pain, or scream out for help from it's family as it is being mauled? Sure. But have I ever seen a wild animal weep in sorrow for where it finds itself in the world today? Pining for the better yesterday, depressed at the mistakes it has made? No. Wild animals can't afford to waste energy that way.

Question: Yeah.
Me? I always think about how much more life is worth living. I like hardship because I appreciate being able to overcome it. I like setbacks because it makes me that much more stronger. Overall, without sadness, I don't think I could ever enjoy my life.

Yes, exactly! One must have negative, in order to experience positive. ☺

In Hinduism it means "I bow to the divine in you."

And in return means hello

Yes, but then I realize I don't care about other people. I just go into a trance because I can't live with my thoughts, but I can't deny them either. Revere the paradox.

Agree & part of that is how we choose to deal with each event. Never let circumstances dictate. Make a conscious choice!

I know that happiness is a choice..."there is no way to happiness, happiness IS the way"

But when I feel bad about it, I end up thinking about everyone doing better than me

That only makes me feel worse :/ I just try not to think logically

Yes. All I have to do is come on here to be reminded of it!
