People who block traffic to protest should be sued into oblivion for any damages.

The silly misdemeanors they get charged with are meaningless. Not sure if they ever get actually tried. These miscreants should face ruin.

I don't understand how blocking a freeway or bridge really helps their cause - not just with this issue but any issue.

Here it is legal to run them over
Bumbles · 51-55, M
@MarineBob To get to my flight I would gladly do so.

Then why don't they sue them. I will skip the "do you know any good lawyers?" joke. Yesterday, Airport Parkway (Seattle) was shut down for nearly 4 hours (3PM-7PM). 47 arrests were made, but the planes waited for no one. People were getting out of cars, and hauling their bags, for nearly 1.5 miles, to try to make their flights.

If they're hoping to raise awareness of Palestinian kids' suffering, they didn't win any converts yesterday.

I did not have a flight yesterday, but if I did, I would be motivated to join a class action lawsuit.

@Northwest I would think it’s hard to identify the defendant, and most folks just want get on their way. I wish someone would take up the cause though.

@Bumbles The arrest records are public. The problem though, is that Gaza kids' do have a legitimate cause, and I would not want this to turn into political fodder. Not that I think that the organizers really get the Gaza Kids' suffering. And a lot of the well meaning people, are getting sucked in by folks who really mean "Jihad", not let's champion a just cause.

@Northwest Well, wish someone would try it, but perhaps also an issue with proving damages by an individual. The only thing that would slow this trend down is if people faced real consequences.

The farm lobby is awful about this.
Bumbles · 51-55, M
@BlueVeins lol how?
Yep, if someone misses a hospital appointment because of them, they should be forced to go to that person's home and apologise to their face.

Bonus if it's a child's appointment- make them apologise to the parents!

🤣

You'd just be giving them a platform to explain to the victim why they did what they did.

Better to give them corner time or make them write "I shall not block traffic" a thousand times on a blackboard if that's your solution.
@beckyromero For some reason thinking if the simpsons intro! 😅

Changes to a person blocking traffic, blocking public access to government officials, medical facilities and clinics, people's homes, should escalate depending on the number of arrests of person.

@Bumbles if it is a legal protest the police can force them too move if they are obstructing the highway
They blocked a major freeway in Oregon yesterday.

A freeway.

I don't know what these people are thinking, and I didn't know at the time what they were even protesting, but preventing emergency vehicles from getting where they need to go is not the way to get my empathy. It's a felony, and it needs to be treated as such.
