I Support Gay Rights

I used to not... My parents raised me the same way that my grandparents raised them... Being gay is a sin and very, very wrong and gays go to hell. That’s how I’ve always thought and believed up until recently. My precious fifteen year old came out to me as bisexual, and it made our relationship and bond stronger I think. She knew my beliefs and how I was raised, but she still had the courage to come out to me... Knowing what kind of mother I was, knowing that I would never turn my back on her no matter the situation, she knew in her heart i’d love her just the way she is... My parents on the other hand do not accept it, but they are aware that I accept her and love her and they love her too, they just don’t accept her “lifestyle”.

I was raised in a completely opposite home where the views were simple...you love who you love.

I still cannot fathom a parent that can turn away their own child for being gay. That is just incomprehensible to me.

I can see how her opening up to you strengthened the bond between you two. Kudos to you for being a great mom!!

Well I hope at least they still see her. If not, that would be such a shame...

She said it all! 🙂👍.

She has your support and at least the grandparents still see her and love her. That’s a win for now 🙂

A child will be a child, whatever she or he will think, feel and do. I'm sure that you have behaved exactly right.
Your a good mother and it's absolutely wonderful to hear that you except her like a loving mother should. People let there traditional family values get in the way of that love. It warms my heart to see a post that is up lifting.
They will be really missing out on a grandchild.
And I feel sorry for your daughter but homophobes will be homophobes; In the long run she is better off without them.

Not all family is blood. She will find good people to be in her life.

I absolutely support you. It is a fact that even conservative communities are increasing in their acceptance. I mentor an 18 year old Christian girl who opted to still accept dad's regular spankings after graduating HS but whose bisexuality is no problem to her devout parents and even her declared interest in corporal punishment!
@Disciplinarian This is (still) way fkd up.
One positive does not negate the negative in any way.

I have no problem with gays. The ONLY thing I dislike are the ones that feel they can “turn" any straight man.

People love who they love. If a religion tells you being gay is a sin...then it's a shitty religion.
