CD'ers, What was it like when you tried to quit CDing?

People that don't CD will never understand a CD'er. Crossdressing is a lot of being an alcoholic.

I know everyone has tried quitting CDing specially us older ones. We all started when it wasn't accepted like it is now.

For me it became like a craving, just like a food craving. I see women walking around or see things in stores. I would be wanting that.

Then that craving was becoming a want. You know what I mean. I was like damn I want to wear that, I want to feel that soft fabrics, I want to smell nice again

Then before I knew it. I see something pretty I either stolen it or I bought it. I don't remember, I just knew right then and there. CDing was going be part of life till the day I die.

I came to terms with my CDing early on. Trust me I still have my battles and questions like. Why do I, What's the fucks wrong with me questions, and the every so nagging self doubting and put myself down. But lets end this here, before I start another chapter of my life nobody cares about.

One of my first closest friends on EP loved womens clothes and cross dressing, he’d been married many years and couldn’t talk to her about it so he used to come online and we’d go shopping in stores online to find clothes and shoes for him. We used to have great fun.

I tried quitting a few times but the reality of it is it’s a part of who I am. I am Sarah and she’s not going anywhere

I am talking about the story of trying to give up CDing and how you end up going back.

Your profile is almost blank

@HumanEarth sorry I meant I made a post about it back when we started this profile
Every CD goes through the "what TF is wrong with me" phase...especially if you grew up prior to the internet. I suspect every CD has purged at least once. The alcoholic analogy is accurate in the sense that the desire to crossdress never goes away. Unlike alcoholism, crossdressing isn't debilitating, though it can have adverse impacts on personal relationships. It's important to understand a few things. It's pretty common, so don't beat yourself up over it. It doesn't mean you're gay or bi, though some are, and that's ok. You can't control the desire, but you can control how you act upon those desires. In personal relationships, it's important to be upfront with your partner if things get serious.

This is and will always be a part of who I am for better or worse. I don't purge.
I actually find the subject fascinating and your explanation enlightening.

I’ve never just quit dressing , I did take breaks especially when clothes were getting too small or worn out .

Never have tried to quit? Why would I do that?
ninalanyon · 61-69, T
@HumanEarth I don't feel either of the latter two. The first is what has held me back from coming out to family and friends, I worry that they might laugh; but I don't feel embarrassed to be dressed in public.

I have purged my things a few times in my lifetime and wish I hadn't.

The last time I quit for over 6 months, I put all my stuff in the garage with a padlock. I will NEVER purge again.

I have gone almost 3 weeks without dressing except for panties, but it is on my mind all the time.

I know who I am, and I know I will probably never change, but since crossdressing isn't accepted by most people where I live, I doubt if I will ever go out in public in my town fully dressed as a woman.

@silkydrawers You don't have to dress 'age appropriate' whatever that means. Dress how you feel. Here's a picture of me taken today with a pair of red suede boots I bought this afternoon. I'm 68, does this mean that I mustn't wear short skirts and bright colours?

Soon it will be warm enough to go barefoot and not long after that barefoot with a miniskirt and no tights.
