What Do You Think The Difference Between Cross-Dressing & Being a Drag Queen Are?

Crossdressering and Drag Queen are terms often used interchangeably, but they actually represent two different things.

Crossdressering is refers to the act of wearing clothes of opposite gender of themselves. It could be for reason of personal comfort, self-expression, or as part of one’s identity exploration.

On the other hand, being a drag queen is a performance art where individuals of any gender dress up in exaggerated, glamorous outfits for entertainment purposes, often with a theatrical flair.

This is what I think the difference is

All drag queens are crossdressers, but not all crossdressers are drag queens. DQs are usually way over the top with outrageous clothes, heels, wigs, makeup, etc. They tend to be gay, and enjoy entertaining people. Most CDs tend to be straight, don't necessarily go all out with clothes and makeup. Usually closeted and discreet about their hobby.

That's an easy one ...EXHIBITIONISM.

Most cross dressers by far do so in private whereas a Drag Queen thrives off the attention and public display.

Well to me in UK drag queens are always very over the top and mostly into entertainment and not necessarily gay either, I’ve known a few married guys that did it for a job.
Cross dressing can be for some guys that they just enjoy the feel of womens clothes it’s not always sexually motivated and often done in private.

The height of the hair and the over the top makeup. Almost every CD I have ever known has been into natural looking makeup.

Drag Queen seems to be more about performing, cross dressing seems to be more a way of life.
