Keep in mind that back when most religions were created, they didn't have many of the concepts we have nowadays and according to the place and the time there are huge cultural differences, so sometimes ignoring what a holy book says is not for worse, it's just inevitable. For example, in the Bible there was a man named Onan, he had to marry his brother's widow and impregnate her but he felt uncomfortable by it so he wouldn't ejaculate inside of her. That's why he was slain by God. In some languages the word "masturbation" has its roots on the name "Onan". Is that still considered a sin? Not even close. People nowadays would even think that marrying your dead brother's wife is a weird or even a suspicious thing to do.
My point is, there's flux in culture and while some of the rules in holy books are timeless, there are some that don't make much sense in the modern world. People need to be selective of the good and the bad things and to not accept every ancient concept as the correct one.

@HannibalAteMeOut Do you realize what you are saying though... that basically each person can interpret the word of God to whatever fits them in the moment?

@HannibalAteMeOut it's true what you said about old religions but even modern ones are against any king of sex outside a heterosexual marriage.

We all know the Bible is incomplete at best. It doesn’t even mention the airports. @HannibalAteMeOut

@ISpeakTheTruth is it a good thing to having children with your brother's wife?
HannibalAteMeOut · 22-25, F
@MarkPaul yes, I realize it and that's true. Holy books are often written just like literature, so they have metaphors and literary configurations, they're not like a math textbook or the periodic table, so of course they're open for interpretation. And that's exactly why there are so many hereses and branches of the same religion, because each one of them read the same book in a different way.

@SW-User 😂 "airports"

@HannibalAteMeOut I'm not sure that's the reason... at least not the main one. Humans are not really "made" to govern themselves and so the chaos that happens from them trying is not unexpected and that mayhem is part of the many interpretations. But, here's the thing... God's word is pretty direct... even the ones we struggle with and may not personally like or think is unfair and possibly challenge.

@MarkPaul God's word say "an eye for an eye" in the time of Moses but when Jesus came, he said to offer the other chick if you're slapped lol.
God's word said the Messiah will fall from the sky but Jesus was born from a woman.
God's word says don't do anything during the Sabbath but Jesus preached.
In the old testament polygamy is accepted but in the new it's not mentioned.
The point she's trying to make is even within the Bible things evolved.

@HannibalAteMeOut the Bible foretold this time ,its one of the signs of the times
People would turn from sound doctrine to their own ways ,it actually warned homosexuality would abound ,in the last days we would be as Sodom and Gomorrah
Men laying with men ,(strange flesh ) and women using their bodies in ways they were not intended for as well ,
It even says 7 women would lay with 1 man just for his name ,,
So its not out dated ,its all coming to pass ,,
As to the scripture you mentioned
When a brother took his brothers wife ,to take care of her and his family
any children thy had was counted as his dead brothers ,not his
He pulled out and shot off on the floor not because he felt bad ,he was having no problem with the act ,,he did not want his brother getting the blessing of his child should she become pregnant ,,its further said it would be better to have been with a whore then cast his seed on the floor
If he laid with a whore ,she also became his wife ,,one flesh
It also warns not to teach unless you have the anointing of the holy spirit
you speak carnally ,not spiritually ,,
This is why we have so many religions
other then allowing the Holy Spirit in to be our guides ,and make the doctrine plain ,,we turn to men ,,who have not the mind of Christ ,nor know His ways
They have a form of Godliness but deny the Holy Spirit ,the power there of
We like sheep have all gone astray ,turning to fables ,and ways that lead to destruction
The events of prophecy could have only been given by God
They tell of events 500 yrs before Christ ,to the end of time .events that have and will happened exactly as foretold ,or if they don't ,we can count them as false prophecy and we no longer have to listen to them ,but as a student of prophecy ,I have not found any such errors ,I see the events right on time ,,
they also warn us what to expect right until the last days ,,when the Church that leads Gods sheep to sin is on fire ,and all the church's that took her image ,,(accepted her doctrines )are on fire too ..the Day of the Lord has come ..
Only one unskilled in the word would try to explain its outdated ,,
He said He would use the simple things to confound the wise ,,
but His Children would know what season we are in "In the last Days "
Theses events would happen ,,only a blind man can't see
they are coming to pass ,,just as prophecy foretold ,,

@HannibalAteMeOut Sure, if what you're after is just some fun quotes then what you say works just fine. However if you're after truth then you realize there's only one, and you want to find it.

@MartinTheFirst This is my path.

@ISpeakTheTruth Onan was shrinking from his responsibility to bear children for his dead brother....correct!!
@HannibalAteMeOut Or select to treat mythology as just the ancient fictional stories they are.

@HannibalAteMeOut well put. I couldn’t of said it any better
