Got a call from 1-855 number

Been using my card how ever and I get a call, hung up, they left a voice message:

"This is the <my banks name> broad service center at <phone number>. With an important message for Twiigss. We need to verify some recent activity on your bank card ending in <numbers>. Please ensure you have your case number 12345678, and that I can call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week."

I have a relative who used to work at that bank and they said that's not a thing, and is a scam, I would have gotten an email immediately, but I have no email, and no bank alert on the mobile app.

It just sounds soooo legit when they say your banks name like that, but I've never heard of broad service center and my relative said that bank company doesn't have a broad service center.

Sorry you've been targeted. I no longer answer my phone for that reason. I still get lots of email scams, but typically, I report them to the phishing or scam email set up by the company they are pretending to be.

I got a phony email this morning from "Omaha Steaks", pretending I had won something. Omaha Steaks doesn't HAVE a scam or phishing email, so I just sent the scam to SPAM.

Although the details are specific to country, that pattern is one of the most common forms of fraud attempt going.

The criminals are attempting to gain access to your bank account, to empty it.

Another method is to send an e-mail that looks genuine by having stolen the legitimate service's letter-heading and related details, but these are often given away by a very slight change to the name, by a strange-looking sending address, or by some implausible claim about a prize, delivery or other attractant.

Some crooks try it on by pretending to be from your bank... but naming one you have never used!

In the UK, we receive false e-posts pretending to be from banks, but also from such official bodies as the TV Licensing Agency, His Majesty's Revenue & Customs (the tax agency) or the Driver & Vehicle Licensing Agency, but all identifiable as fakes by careful examination or by the wrong communications method.

My mom gets these sort of calls aaallll the time 😠

@Tumbleweed I'm sorry 😔. About a year ago I made my usual monthly payment to Comcast for Internet. Then I get an email that says, your payment has been denied. So I call Comcast, told him what happened and the guy says, sir, I don't know what you're talking but your payment fine this sounds like scam.

And when I went back and looked at the email header, sure enough it wasn't even anything to do with Comcast.

@twiigss The email header is always the dead give away. I have received many emails the source was stupid enough to include the distribution list with hundreds of email identities included. No business in their right mind would do that.
It's definitely a scam. Have to watch out for these kind of things

I hate scammers! 😡😡😡 You did the right thing. Always check with your bank directly. Never call the number they give you.

@Musicman Jason was an non stop very angry killing machine in that one. Even more so then some of his other movies. But if he's in it you know someone is going down.

@Gibbon I love how the government was protecting junior. 😡😡😡 Reminded me of Hunter.

@Musicman Oh I never thought of that parallel in the movie. That's pretty damn funny Lol.
