Has your cat been microchipped as from today you could be fined £500 in the UK if not ?

Matt85 · 36-40, M
No cat right now but I heard about this on the radio.
They said the chip doubles the likelyhood of a pet being reunited with their owners if they have it done. I don't know if they meant cats or just pets in general.

That would imply ownership nobody truly owns a cat the cat lives with you the cat is your roommate and as long as you provide for the cat the cat will allow you to stay so maybe it's you that needs to get microchipped.

I personally think it’s a disgrace to force people to do this on their pets. I got my dogs done and regret it now. 😞

You know we are next, that’s why they do this.

@Fluffybull

The government should stay out of our business! They move the goal posts constantly! Time we stood up to it.

@Fairydust Why would you regret it? What's the downside? You don't feel good that you put your dogs safety as a priority? And as far as the government staying out of our business, what are your thoughts on abortion? Schools indiscriminately banning books? Unions?

@Ynotisay

Like I said they are desensitising us, started with the pets, vaccinating/chipping them, pets have never been so sick, we are next! They want us chipped! Just like they want us constantly vaccinated.
My dogs are always with me, there’s no need for them to be chipped, their safety isn’t an issue.
Schools are brainwashing the kids with lies! 📚

Everything the government pushes is bad.
@AndysAttic that's one cute puddy

It's not always helpful as many owners don't bother updating phone numbers or addresses.

@Fluffybull If they were sensible they would😂

It's about time people were fined that kind of money for allowing their cats to roam freely. If you have a pet you care about why would you allow it to wander the streets as a traffic hazard where it could be killed, or to defecate in neighbour's gardens which may result in the cat being injured by said neighbour. And there's always the issue of dog attacks or in some areas foxes or badgers
Yes, but he's a long way from the UK.

A friend of mine had a cat that ran away they were feeling kind of upset so I thought I'd give him some good news. I said hey the cat found someone more pathetic than you are. He gave me a dirty look and rolled his eyes....

Time they were treated like dogs and not allowed to stray. I'm fed up with cats using my garden as a toilet. I don't blame the cats, if I did there'd be a lot of dead cats, I blame their totally selfish and inconsiderate owners.

True, but if the cat isn't micro chipped, then how are they going to prove it's your cat?
@sstronaut by running the can opener you use at home
@ImperialAerosolKidFromEP can't prove that other cats wouldn't also be attracted to that sound and they wouldn't be allowed in my house to use the cab opener
