As a trained and Certified Search and Rescue Expert and volunteer, I have been in mock 'Active School Shooter' exercises.
The short answer is ...anything from a Walther P22 to a Desert Eagle .50 Caliber brought out from safe hiding and put in the face of a school shooter will slow him down significantly.

The safest place on the planet for a school shooter to shoot people and children is where guns are not allowed.
Of course, common sense doesn't make sense to those that don't have any ...just saying.
Got that Mr Bot? ...lol

@laurieluvsit So presumably you discover the intruder is there to shoot anyone, by him having already done it, though....?

@laurieluvsit Should be.... How?
Someone intent on cold-blooded murder is unlikely to warn his potential victims or give them time to fight back.
And the victims won't know until the shooting starts.
Whatever is wrong, merely answering bullets with more bullets can't be the answer; and may even make individual incidents worse still.

Statistics and facts prove otherwise but attempting to communicate with concrete is futile

@laurieluvsit Why "should" they be? What on earth has wielding a lethal weapon got to do with teaching children?
Do you think nurses should be similarly responsible in a hospital?
This has about as much "common sense" about it as trying to stem childhood obesity by opening McDonalds outlets in every school.

@laurieluvsit please read about uvalde. Trained police were too afraid to respond.
Teachers should never be expected to be put in that situation.

Those who are afraid and unarmed are killed by predators.
Those who are armed and are not afraid to defend themselves are not.
It has been this way all throughout history.
I understand that common sense does not apply with some mindsets.
What is true, however, cannot be changed into a lie no matter how hard one tries.
