Such a weird feeling when you realize someone broke into your home

We had so much fun on vacation then returned only to find out the cash I'd set aside and my gold were missing. Home was normal aside from that, the door unlocked and only those things missing. I've tried detaching myself from things & money but it still feels disappointing. It's okay, we're healthy and had a good time and I know I'll make the money again. Τhe gold jewellery was a stab, as it was generational/sentimental and irreplaceable. But it's just material goods after all.

Drug addicts most likely.

Our home was broken into in the 90s while we wee at work. I found it's not the material loss that is so bad. It's the violation of sanctity and privacy.
@MoveAlong True. I cleaned everything thouroughly after finding out because I couldn't stand the thought that someone was here. Changed locks and installed a camera too.

Sounds like an inside job.
