At what point do mass shootings cease to be news?

I observed a guy walk into work, glance at the tv news showing the aftermath of the Virginia shooting, mumbled " another one, huh", made himself a cup of coffee and went back to work without a second glance at the tv.
People shot dead at a Walmart?
That's just Wednesday in America.

Unfortunately, it's just another day in America. It did not make a big splash, because kids were not targeted, or was not a specific hate or political crime. It's just a vanilla work place mass killing. Nothing to see here. 😪

@Northwest Right? Here’s how the narrative could’ve gone, if the shooter hadn’t been a person of color:

@SevIsPamprinYouAlways Sadly, US news organizations have a reporting specialty, you know, like "Senior White House" correspondent, "Senior Middle East" correspondent, etc. they now now "Mass shootings" correspondents. 😪
I think people are forgetting that a person's life has value. These shootings are becoming common place in the states. Doesn't mean that people's lives are meaningless. It is sad. It is a gun culture too. It will never end.

And those who benifit from the sales of guns will continue to say “guns don’t kill people, people kill people” with what? Guns?
Jenny1234 · 51-55, F
You become desensitized to it when it’s on the news almost every day. I’m at a point where I just expect to hear about it now

It's been an interesting progression towards apathy. Happened quickly. These situations almost always follow the same script. We just plug in new details. And I think since we know that nothing will change it seems that it's become more of a contest to apply blame to the 'other side.'

What a bunch a BS. People are killed everyday by criminals. Chicago has an 8 murder weekend and it’s not news. So why is a Walmart shooting more important than those lives? So many people use these awful events to advance an agenda. But drug killings in the cities are ignored as fentanyl pours across the border in greater and greater numbers.

Problems never end because having the issue to generate votes is more important than the lives affected.

@chrisCA Lots of re-evaluating needed. Lots. Drugs, immigration, criminality, school vouchers, education, and so much more.

@carpediem Good point, albeit very sad.

@uncalled4 agreed

What is very strange is that he was standing with employees not long before and they were chatting and in a jovial mood. One of them posted a video on Facebook. He walked into the break room and opened fire. Police are looking for a motive.
Slade · 56-60, M
@cherokeepatti he was the store manager so it's safe to say it is not random.

Leftist's fake outrage will be more disgusting than ever. Like they don't wish death on everyone associated with Walmart every day
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Slade I didn’t say it was random. It seems like a Sleeper type of shooting.
zonavar68 · 51-55, M
That's US god and gun culture at work - normalising people sorting out their differences with society by obtaining a gun, killing people, then if they survive pleading religious insanity. Oh shit sounds like Trump.
Slade · 56-60, M
@zonavar68 cuckoo
SevIsPamprinYouAlways · 56-60, F
@zonavar68 Here’s the next logical step:

zonavar68 · 51-55, M
@SevIsPamprinYouAlways Now that is ultra puke-worthy wokeness!
scott18 · 26-30, M
it never will end

People don't realize that the powers that shouldn't be basically want people to kill each other off. The powers already own most of the wealth so they really do not have any use for the rest of us at this point.

Of course people will virtue signal whenever it's a specific group that gets targeted. There's always the cliche statements about how more needs to be done to protect people or that guns need to be banned.

And they've been talking gun control since the second amendment was established but then what did some states recently do? They made it so you do not even have to have a license to carry a gun. So basically moving backwards.

Or how the media and social media will talk non-stop crap about certain groups but then whenever an incident like Club Q happens, all the sudden they change their tune and act like they're so upset. People are so fake.

When we didn't ban guns after the first one.
Ryannnnnn · 31-35, M
It's natural. You can't afford to care about everything or you'd be a wreck.
