The Netherlands has such a low crime rate..

That they are facing prison closures all over the country. By focusing on rehabilitation, innovative corrections methods and lowering sentencing, the Netherlands has achieved a goal that most countries envy. They now have the ability to pour resources into organized crime, drug syndicates, and cyber crimes focusing less on minor offenses.

The Netherlands focus on rehabilitation, enabled a positive feed cycle that resulted in low recidivism, making the country a safer place.

The US focus on punishment, which contributes to a negative feed cycle, making our streets more dangerous.

These are facts, but MAGAs deny facts, and insist that punishment is key to recidivism.

hmmm ...... Amsterdam and Rotterdam are probably two of the most dangerous places I've set foot in.
@LegendofPeza Amsterdam dangerous? Maybe I was in the wrong parts of Amsterdam but it seems like Disneyland to me. I’ve been to neighborhoods in places likeJacksonville Florida that felt way unsafe lol

Rehabilitation works in the Netherlands.

It's not even attempted in most countries

@Picklebobble2 It works in the UK when projects are allowed to run without political interference. Unfortunately the popular appetite for punitive justice means that what works well at a local level is rarely fed into the national system. Instead we end up allocating lots of resources to locking people up and achieving poorer outcomes in terms of reoffending.

No wonder crime rates are so low. Even helping teenagers to die is legal.
