Should the Mexican government detain and thoroughly search US citizens leaving Mexico?

@TexChik GM and Ford already saying the tariffs will kill them....... whose fault is that?

@MarineBob Yep, they took American jobs and moved them to Mexico. John Deere is in the same boat. JD has gotten really chicken sh*t with the farmers and Case has really stepped up and taken over a huge part of their business.

@specman That is essentially throwing the problem over the wall and saying "not our problem" when it is our citizens bringing it into the country and our citizens purchasing it and creating a market for it. Yeah, the cartels are bad and need to be dealt with.

But detaining and searching US citizens returning to the US would drastically reduce what comes over the border as well. And it's easier to target traveling US citizens for enforcement than it is the Cartels because targeting the Cartels requires what amounts to a civil war in Mexico at this point.

Why not start with what would give near immediate and broadly successful results? Get US citizens to stop being drug mules and then the Cartels become resource starved and easier to take out.

@MarineBob That has nothing to do with the question being asked. We're demanding Mexico prevent drugs from leaving their country. The drugs are leaving their country because our people are transporting them. Searches would be happening at ports of entry, not at random within Mexico.
