Why do some folks favor abortion and oppose capital punishment and others oppose abortion and favor capital punishment? ~

Don't both acts amount to playing God? I believe either pair of opinions is inconsistent.

Denying a woman the right to an abortion is playing G-d. Women die from complications of childbirth. It hasn't been that many years ago a tourist died in Ireland because something happened to the fetus. If she could have got home she could have got an abortion but the airlines refused to fly her because she was so far along. The fetus was dead and yet she couldn't get an abortion so they just let her die. How's that for "prolife"?

Think it couldn't happen here? Sixty years ago it wasn't that uncommon for drs to be reluctant to perform a D&C until they were absolutely sure the fetus was dead because they didn't want to be accused of performing abortions. If the woman bled to death while waiting oh well.

People with no background in health care should not be passing laws regulating what medical procedures a dr can and can't perform. There's already talk in several states of completely banning abortions and in at least one state they are wanting to ban certain types of birth control.

@robb65 And all that is in response to whose anti-choice post?

Women die from complications of childbirth
even with modern medicine women STIL are left is major health problems after giving birth I can't believe that a lot of people don't know this, women are more likely to die giving birth or while pregnant than abortions that's a fact.

It's funny that you mentioned the birth control thing, the same people against abortion are also against birth control. I used to work for a religious Catholic hospital and I remember getting a letter in the mail that contraceptives aren't covered. How is birth control not covered doesn't make any sense to me.
According to law and science, an embryo isn't a person, just like an acorn isn't an oak tree. So aborting an embryo is in no way killing anything. Wanna see a bit of the science?

Abortions are only performed before the embryo or fetus can survive outside the womb. That was the standard for legal abortion in Roe v Wade and continues to be.

@ElwoodBlues I agree a million and ten percent. Best reply I've seen

@ElwoodBlues how is giving a college education to a poor person playing God some people don't have the funds and people out there help them which I think is a great asset to help somebody get the education you are so misguided in your thinking you need to just really look at what you are saying.
RedBaron · M
@AJ023 And you need to learn about punctuation, especially commas and periods.

I am for anything that reduces the census.

I'm only like,70% kidding.

Cause the ones who oppose abortion and favor capital punishment are screwed up in the head. The ones who favor abortion don't really favor it as in they want it to happen they just don't think it could be criminalized until you reach a certain point abortion is no different than wearing a condom, in either case you are making sure a life does not develop.
Capital punishment is a punishment for a crime committed it. Abortion is stopping something from getting started.
Torsten · 36-40, M
@Spoiledbrat you mean killing what has already started
Yeah it's murder 😂@Torsten
RedBaron · M
@Spoiledbrat Either abortion and capital punishment are both murder or they're not.

Why? Some people oppose capital punishment because of the chance of wrongful conviction and execution. It's happened more often than you might think. The military does not exist solely to fight wars and kill people. Consider, for example, the liberation of Nazi concentration camps, enforcement of civil rights in the Jim Crow south, and working at Ground Zero in the aftermath of 9/11. Or just ask anyone you know who works in the armed forces. And remember to thank them for their service, especially with today being Memorial Day.

What's that supposed to mean, folks "favor abortion", please??? Who "favors" abortion?
RedBaron · M
@helenS What do you think it means?
helenS · 36-40, F
@RedBaron "Do you prefer chocolate or vanilla ice cream?" – "I favor vanilla."

maybe it does sound strange but you are right it is but an opinion and there personal thought on the topic [redbaron]
AJ023 · M
No that is wrong because taking someone's life for taking another person's life is different from killing a life that has no choice to live or not there's plenty of people out there that can't have children like my aunt and uncle from years ago and they adopted a beautiful China girl
At the point where abortion is legal the fetus can't yet register pain. @AJ023
RedBaron · M
@AJ023 Taking anyone's life for any reason is killing. And the possibility of wrongful execution (it's happened more often than you probably realize) should be enough reason to do away with capital punishment.

You're assuming facts not yet in evidence.

I've not heard either side claim "playing god" or "not playing god" as part of their logic for supporting or opposing either position.
