Am I a bad guy? I don't think so

So some lady went on a tirade about me being racist for saying that it should be a requirement for foreign people who wish to live in the United States should learn English. each day I encounter people at my job who can't speak English at all not even broken English and even that in the work force slows everyone down.

Personally I don't have the time to keep bringing out my translator for temporary workers. and now I'm not saying they should forget their native tongue entirely but they need to learn enough for reasonable communication. any thoughts on this really I think that lady has no idea of what the word racist means my reasoning is very logical.

This is a very difficult time in the United States, where employers are trying to save themselves a nickel by hiring non-English speaking temps, who are abundant, and who will accept less pay than you receive.

I am sure it is extremely frustrating for you. IF these temps plan to continue working for your employer, it does seem to me that they should make an effort to learn the language.

BUT...I also remember all the people in my high school French class who, today, don't remember more than one or two words of French, and who can't carry on a conversation in French. Their minds go blank, they are afraid of making a mistake, or sounding stupid, so they just don't speak French at all.

I wonder if your temp workers are like that?
