What does the verb "to dalmate" mean? It is not in the dictionary.

Dalmate is French.
In English we refer to Dalmatian or Dalmatic.

@LookingIn A Dalmatian is a dog, isn't it? It's not derived from the questionable word "dalmate", is it? It means from Dalmatia, doesn't it? I've never heard of "dalmatic", that sounds like another derivative of "dalmate".
