Jack's on the roof and won't come down

A man left his cat with his brother while he went on vacation for a week. When he returned from his vacation, he phone his brother to see if he can pick his cat back up.

The brother hesitated, then said.
"I am so sorry, but while you were away, your cat died."

The man got very upset and started to yell at his brother.
"You know you could have broken the news to me better that that. When I called you today, you could have said that he was on the roof and wouldn't come down. Then when I call you tomorrow, you could have said that he fell off and the vet was working on patching him up. Then when I called on the third day, you could have said that the vet could not save him and he passed away comfortably."

The brother thought about it and apologized for coming across as insensitive.

So, the man then asked his brother, "how's mom."

"She's on the roof and won't come down."
