I do wonder about rising costs and groceries are a great example. But, the answer isn’t really just Trump.

Employers have to pay more now just to incentivize people to work. That cost does increase the cost to shop across the board. Sometimes, the best you can do is to choose where you shop. I have a Stop & Shop just minutes away. I do try to avoid it simply because its prices are very high. There’s a Market Basket that’s 25 minutes away. Although inconvenient, if I’m shopping for two weeks of groceries, it may save me more than $100.

If I’m ordering food, I’ll pick it up. I refuse to use the likes of companies like Door Dash. They take too much away from the profitability of small restaurants. If everyone turns to Door Dash, or the like, restaurants are forced to raise prices further to cover their losses.

@Adogslife I might have to switch partially to Market Basket, also. Right now I am considering what and where I can cut expenses.

I never use delivery, because Door Dash employs so many terminally lost people who don't speak English. I had to help one of them out last week. He could only speak Portuguese, and I had to walk him up and show him where to deliver the groceries to one of my neighbors.

It looks like I might have to buy kitty litter and paper towels from Walmart, because they have the cheapest options...and I might have to buy my allergy medication from Walmart also. Not everything at Walmart is cheapest...but I do like their pickup option.

@4meAndyou We recently bought two Maine Coons (a couple months apart). They’re fun - almost like a dog, very social and friendly. But damn, they eat like mad. Between two cats and a dog, food, treats, litter, it can easily be $75-$100 every two weeks. We’re trying standing orders now from Chewy, which appears to be less expensive.

@Adogslife MY cat is diabetic. He is too skittish to allow injections, (which I can't afford anyway), and is surviving with diet changes alone.

He eats something like 7 to 8 containers of cat food a day, and of course now he is being picky and only likes the expensive stuff.

He pees like an elephant, and the paper towels for the accidents he has, and the kitty litter costs are unaffordable.

I've been spending $30 every two weeks for 12 triple rolls of paper towels, over $100 a month for cat litter, and in the past the cheapest cat food cost me $125 per month...and that is going to go up to about $200 a month because even at Chewy the Evolve cat food he likes is almost $2.00 per container. So I am looking at almost $360 per month just for the cat.

I might have to find him a charitable rich person to take him and give him the fabulous life to which he has become accustomed.

@4meAndyou That’s awful 😞. That might be the cost of my two cats, and they’re rather large…

@Adogslife My diabetic guy is skin and bones because of his disease, and he still weighs 9 pounds. He's a large male tabby. I would say when he is stretched out, from the tip of his nose to the end of his rear end he is about 24" long.

@4meAndyou The older Maine Coon is 8 months old. I just weighed him now because I was curious. He’s 14.2 lbs.
