Do you feel threatened by Islam ?

Why/why not?
AbbeyRhode · F
No, just repulsed and disgusted, as I am by any other evil cult.
Nimbus · M
TexChik · F
Nope. They are cowards that attack the weak and unarmed. I am neither .

@th3r0n Hindus, Buddhists and Sikhs too...
TexChik · F
@th3r0n Exactly.
calicuz · 51-55, M
No, it is actually a peaceful religion, with the majority of followers actually practicing what is preached.
The radicals get all the attention from the media which is always the case.
Ask any Muslim on the street about a "Holy War" and they'll have no idea what you're talking about.

I'll need links to your sources of information on Mohammed and Islam please.
And please don't send anything from:
CNN
Fox News
Or the 700 Club
SW-User
@calicuz no cnn or fox news 😂
Promise

Look I think it would be better for that reason if you researched it yourself

It is historical record in so far as Mohammed was a historical figure. It isn't actually controversial.

A great resource are ex Muslims.

Watch out for tricky apologists and sites that whitewash mass executions as "the Jews knew they had been really bad and therefore begged to be beheaded"

Or, "Muslims treated slaves like members of the family."

Look into current laws where Sharia is applied, such as apostasy laws in many Islamic countries and their origins in the behavior of the 'prophet'

Be aware of the importance of the hadith for the majority of Muslims and how that impacts the application of things like Sharia law

I feel threatened by all extremists.
Because, when they go that extreme, they become capable of a lot of awful things.
Nimbus · M
@SW-User Good point 👍
They’re the only hairy savages to recently have been blowing people up and loping off heads. The whole Islamic State thing hasn’t helped their rep either.
SW-User
No. I'm critical of Islam (particularly political Islam and fundamentalism), as it seems to be inordinately associated with violence in a way that other religions aren't (at least in this time period). But I don't fear or hate it.
llamaboy · 36-40, M
[media=https://youtu.be/L-oxgXEUPvw] ..... yes , "Islamism IS Islam"

"It's not radical Islam, it's not Islamism, It's not militant, violent, extremism,...It's Islam"
SW-User
@calicuz you're correct. And ISIS would agree. They follow the hadith to the letter.
calicuz · 51-55, M
@SW-User

Can we agree that every religion has their extremists and radicals.
I mean there ARE those in the South who still believe you can be a Christian and still own slaves, refer to people in derogatory terms like the N word and still be a good Christian.
SW-User
@calicuz yes, of course.
People are people.

A good person will make even a bad ideology into a good one.

Whereas a bad hearted person will interpret everything through that lens and find justification for their atrocity.

There is nothing in Islam justifying suicide bombers.

There is justifying killing people who leave Islam however, which is why last I checked 20 Islamic countries still have laws that make that illegal.
therighttothink50 · 56-60, M
I feel threatened by western and middle eastern governments who embrace Islam and use Islamic terrorists to create fear and worry. If Islamic terrorism wasn't funded by governments with an agenda, it would provide very little destruction.

People just want to live a good life and have a good job, provide for their families, regardless of their religion. The evil comes when the race baiters and religious baiters within government/mosques stir them up into a frenzy.
calicuz · 51-55, M
@therighttothink50

That's their game. They fund and train radicals and then tell us we need government to protect us from those radicals
Freeranger · M
I'm among thousand upon thousands of my fellow Vets who, are still very competent under arms. No fear here. Head on a swivel.
Roadsterrider · 56-60, M
I don't feel like they are out to get me personally. I give them the same level threat as a dog that may bite or a snake encountered while hiking. Not all Muslims are bad people or terrorists, but any of them have the potential to bite even if they aren't provoked. Their ideology dictates that non Muslims are the bad guys. To consider it not a potential threat would be ridiculous just as living in constant fear would be.

I try to accept everyone at face value until they give me a reason not to.
smiler2012 · 56-60
@Nimbus personally nimby no religious hatred is not my thing. 😆 now if you had a islamic person wearing a manchester united shirt well that is another story nimby
SW-User
It most definitely isn't the one proven true belief about afterlife. This means that those following Islam have vested interest in censuring and possibly harming those following the proven true. So yes, I feel threatened.
GJOFJ3 · 61-69, M
Not in the least
Almost 20% of the families in our subdivision are part of the Islam community. Great neighbors
I don't personally but its a violent religion and intolerant.. they murder a lot of people .. even their own
nedkelly · 61-69, M

nedkelly · 61-69, M

nedkelly · 61-69, M

wildbill83 · 36-40, M
nope, given enough time, they eventually blow themselves up... 🤔
Unlearn · 41-45, M
@wildbill83 Amen!
4meAndyou · F
I don't for now. Terrorism is what most people think about when one sees the words "threatened" and "Islam", together. So far, thank God, I have had little in the way of direct experience with that.

For the most part, I have little experience with Muslims at all, but the nicest ones appear to be the Sikhs.

Not me but the women who are forced to wear hijab
fschmidt · M
No, I support Islam even though I am not Muslim. Islam is one of the few forces against depraved modern culture.
MartinTheFirst · 22-25, M
@fschmidt what 👀 Surely you can go to conservative christians for that? 👀👀👀
fschmidt · M
@MartinTheFirst The only Christians that meaningfully resist modern culture are traditional Anabaptists, and I support them too. The rest of the Christians are part of modern culture, so they are part of the problem.
MartinTheFirst · 22-25, M
@fschmidt Well its definitely not the only but sure 😵
