If you remember life before B&W TV you must be really old

If you recall this scene you must have one foot in the grave

My grandfather told me about radio dramas and the ones he used to listen to as a kid.

Also, the first television set I had as a kid during the 1990's was a black & white one.

It wasn't until I was about 9, maybe 10 that I got a color television set for myself that was given to me by my grandfather, which before that, originally belonged to my great grandmother.

Almost. I do remember when we got our first b&w TV, but I was very young.
@pentagrammom

I'm lost here - who's to show respect for what, to what and why?
exexec · 70-79, C
@rinkydinkydoink I'm lost, too. I thought it was just because I'm old.

No I'm just about old enough to remember having a black & white portable TV in my bedroom.

@AdaXI

Your very own TV?!
AdaXI · T
@rinkydinkydoink Yeah I think it was my parents originally but they upgraded to a colour portable in their bedroom.

I think I've mentioned before I eventually saved up for a second hand full sized TV. It was a really old one probably from the late 70s early 80s so it didn't cost a great deal but still I was like the only kid in town with a full sized colour TV in their bedroom.

Yeah such luxuries as having two full sized TV sets in a house were still pretty unheard of back then LOLZ😄

You rich kids are all alike... lording it over all of us with your own color TVs and other fancy whatnots...

Why are you wasting your time on SW - Trump could use you in some capacity or another. Maybe as the Ambassador to Fantasyland?

A lot of people had b&w tvs by the late 1950s. This picture is likely late 1940s.

I remember just white TV before they added black. It took a bit of imagination.
@Sevendays

Now THAT is a loooong time ago...
Sevendays · M
@rinkydinkydoink yep, it was like driving in a snow storm.

@Penny

You're still a child!

We had a 19" black and white TV. We didn't get our first color TV until I was about 15. It was a 26" and I thought it was huge!
@Musicman

Now I'm wondering why my dad didn't do that...
Musicman · 61-69, MVIP
@rinkydinkydoink Do you remember the tube testing machines at the pharmacy?
@Musicman

Yes - I already mentioned that but I only remember being sent for radio tubes.
The internet's been cancelled
@rinkydinkydoink the bots were tired of processing for the master
@rinkydinkydoink could have served a nicer purpose, and not been expendable, shame
@rinkydinkydoink the necessary connections remain, neutrality has protected once again

I am not old enough to remember that, but my parents lived through it. I definitely heard about it.
