Or is it just a dumpster for advertising?

I'd rather use email over SMS for important and personal communication. I use Gmail and Outlook for personal but unimportant stuff, while private and business stuff I rely on ProtonMail.

@uikakarotuevegeta my inbox is like 999+ and i cant do anything about it. I get 10s of emails a day from notifications and advertisements. I only give out my email to people i will never talk to lol

@GuyWithOpinions you can simply block specific email addresses and/or mark them as spam; most email services should know in the future to send similar emails directly to spam/junk folder

With email, you have a written record, unlike sms where things vanish after a while. I have things in my email dating back decades. Things like license keys and stuff that I do not want to lose, and I change computers frequently so it is best to have it all stored on the web.
