Something I’ve always been curious about…

When you post a song, is it because you’d like a reaction to or discussion about that music or artist, specifically ?

Or are you okay with posters bringing on other music and artists that they like ? 🤔

I share songs I like and hope other people will listen and share my like. I'd LOVE it if folk shared their music in turn. Music is a part of people and it gives me a way to know them beyond text on screen.

For me I just like to share as well as keeping me active on the site. Also meeting new friends with common interests and making people smile or laugh.

Most of the time, I post a song simply because I like it or because I like the artist(s) who perform it. But there are a few novelty songs I've posted for amusement purposes. I don't necessarily like those songs, though.

I'm okay with people including music videos of other songs by the artist(s) in their replies. Especially appreciated are good versions of the song I posted that are performed by other artists. I'd rather people not veer off into songs and performers unrelated to my post, but at least they're giving me a reply of some sort. I suppose it's better than no replies at all.
@Rutterman You often share some amazing information and backstories about the artists featured, providing both an interesting read as well as good music. 👍🏽

@bijouxbroussard Thank you, my friend. Your comments mean a lot to me.

If I post as a new post it's normally because it's a song i en joy an d feel like sharing. Beyond that, I hope other people will like it and if the song elicits either a comment or a triggers someone else to post a song in response, either is fine with me.

I'm OK with posters adding other music and artists that they like (sometimes artists I'm not as familiar with), as long as they aren't being confrontational and are adding to the spirit of the original post.

I usually post music only in response to a music post. What I post is something that the original poster's music triggered in me. I am not trying to one up the OP, just sharing. Their post reminds me of another piece of music.

Only when it's a different version of the same song does it become annoying. I generally post the versions that I like.

Yet it's only annoying with me. I generally don't make a big issue like some do by blocking or deleting the comment or reply.
Usually if I’m posting songs I’ve had a few wines and I’m remembering a time, a place or a person. I don’t really mind how others choose to interact with the post. It’s kind of impossible for them to tap in to the feeling in most cases.

It's funny because I am mostly terrible about listening to what others post, but I also have low expectations for a response for what I post....but the reason I post is usually because that is what I am listening to at the moment and think it sounds pretty good....so hope maybe someone else will like it....

I prefer others adding their songs but the one time I tried it the first year of SW. It got really out of hand by one contributor. I think she is gone now or makes secret visits on some of her HUGE length posts but it left a bit of a cautionary tale on how I approach the posts.
I like to occasionally share what I'm listening to with no motive or agenda, and I like to hear what others are listening to.
Sometimes a song can change your day.
@Mindfulness Very true. 😊

All responses are good...except the folks who say this is the better version or song

I have a feeling most music posts are ignored,so I post what I like/want

It's a good way of discovering new things...

I post it because I like it.
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
I don't even think much about why. 😅 I just know that it doesn't bother me if I won't get any reaction.
seaglass · F
I'm totally open to either.
