I have no DVD's since I'm the VERY last in the line of millennials. In some categories it's like I'm gen z & that's one of them 😂 but 3 streaming services I'm subscribed to are HBO/Disney+/Hulu (in one bundle), Youtube Premium, & Prime
JoyfulSilence · 51-55, M
Cereal, tuna, and noodles.

Ivory soap

Gettysburg. That is it. Only one DVD. I bought it ages ago.

My DVD player is old and I disconnected it long ago since I never really use it that much. I almost gave it to charity when I moved recently. I may still do so. I mostly just watch YouTube on my TV these these days. I do not subscribe to any streaming network. Most new movies do not interest me.
Baybreeze · 41-45, F
@JoyfulSilence Oh wow do you like older dvds/movies? I have many from 80s and 90 s...
JoyfulSilence · 51-55, M
@Baybreeze

There are some older movies I like, but I mostly only encounter them these days on TV. And most I have already seen. Sometimes I find stuff on free "on demand" on cable TV or free streaming apps through my cable TV.

A long time ago I used to rest VHS movies from video stores like Blockbuster. Of course those went away. By the time I got a DVD player (I got one with also a VHS player) I think video rental stores (with VHS and DVD) started to go out of business.

I was disappointed by the sound of DVD's, it is hard to hear dialogue. But I think I lacked the proper audio hardware or wires. I remember something coming with colorful wires but I am not sure I ever learned how to use them.

Even my cable TV plays sounds bad. I can select a setting to get the movie sound, but it is really loud, so I turn down the volume. Then when I channel surf I have to change the setting (Dolby or something) to hear things well again. It is so annoying to keep having to switch the settings.

About watching older movies: I only have one life to live, so I am trying harder to explore new things as I get older. Even if a movie I like is playing on TV I will skip it to look for something fresh, usually on YouTube.
