Castles are hard to heat and cool

@Lostpoet and the damp… sheesh 🤓

as a third generation contractor/carpenter, it's been my experience that the richer people are, the uglier house they build...
instead of a conventional square/rectangle home that best utilizes space, they build funky shaped monstrosities with multiple corners, offsets, dormers, etc. that take up more space than they actually provide...
easy to pick out the tourist/summer homes around here, they're a blight on the landscape (and depreciate much quicker too...)

There are some more modern versions of castles and stuff but like the old medieval ones you can't just build easily. Most of the techniques used back then aren't used anymore and to build such a thing would take years of time. Actually there is a guy who build (or is still building) a medival castle from scratch with the tools they had back then. You can find him on YT. Really interesting stuff. I guess nowadays the standards of comfort are a little bit differnt then back then lol.

Ever been in a real castle? 😆
Drafty and cold doesn't describe it well enough.

@Anna2011 They may appear large on the outside, yet they as well rather small on the inside.
Anna2011 · 18-21, F
@DeWayfarer well as long as they have a tower to watch the area around you.. and ramparts to walk along... maybe a dungeoun for your enemies too muahaha
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@Anna2011 Would rather live in a real palace! Nothing like a castle.
Yes I have been in a palace before. It's a museum now.

Because it's a cultural thing they get rich and so you go to rich people parties and do rich people activities. They end up just kinda all having the same life.
And yeah BORING.
This is why we need to abolish them they've wasted their privilege.
Except Enya. She lives in a castle and refuses to see other people. This I respect.

Castles are built about 800 years ish ago. They have rebuilt many but probably next to none in modern times. Most mansions and Manor House’s are 150 years old or older. A big house is usually built on a plot of land which is bought privately here.

Yeah!

Lived in a mansion built in 1850. French Emoire style architecture will always challenge the imagination.
here in the USA there are, Scotty's castle in Death Valley National Park. Hearst castle in San Simion CA,

Castles can be cold.
But you might look at the Builtmore estate, and some homes built by rich ppl in California or other places where there has been money (e.g., old estates in the Hudson River Valley, like Lyndhurst).

I think that they don't want to be hated even more than they already are 🤔
TrunkZ · 61-69, M
@ostfuidctyvm They actually care? 😱😱
H1raeth · 36-40, M
I think Enya lives in a castle.
JonLosAngeles66 · M
You can't buy class or taste. If you look at what they've done to become that rich, I'm guessing you see very little joy or beauty.
YoMomma ·
I don't discriminate and generalize.. there’s boring poor people too
TrunkZ · 61-69, M
That would definitely be cool. Maybe they're not as functional as a more common design? 🤔🤔
Thevy29 · 41-45, M
Didn't the singer Enya buy a castle to live in?
Anniedlr · 31-35, F
Probably planning regulations 🙂
JustNik · 51-55, F
Or just move into an old one so you get the ghosts too.
justlooking2023 · 56-60, M
Moat insurance is expensive.
AstroZombie · 36-40, M
Not enough acres of land to build the castle, maybe? 🤔
Pretzel · 70-79, M
And why don't they have alligators and pirannahs in those moats anyway?
Miram · 31-35, F
Why do you have a picture of a child as your avatar? Considering this is an adult content website. And there seems to be fetishists lurking around ya.
How old are you?
How old are you?
Monalisasmith86 · 36-40, F
You know how much a medieval castle costs and some mansions have more than you think like a bowling alley
ArishMell · 70-79, M
Not build something original then, just copy a style obsolete hundreds of years ago?
TheOneyouwerewarnedabout · 46-50, MVIP
Council approval .. HOA buttholes?
Anna2011 · 18-21, F
@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout do those really matter if you are a billionaire ?
Angelboy · M
swirlie · 31-35
Because mansions have 2-car garages and castles have no garage at all.
