How to beat mosquitos naturally?

Without drowning yourself in extremely strong chemicals ...
elafina · 36-40, F
I stayed with this Buddhist woman in Nepal for a month and no killing was the law in her home. She taught me how to catch a mosquito in my palm and let it out the window. Not to mention, I wasn't master of this art (and still aren't), so some nights I just had to accept and sleep in theirzzz company

Spiders are your best friends 😏
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@helenS Dragonflies are voracious eaters of mosquitoes. I am happy when I see them flying around in my yard in the summer.

@cherokeepatti I'd make your comment "Best answer", but I can't. 🙁

It was merely a reply.

I have peppermint growing up in one flower bed, will grab a handful of it and rub it all over my head, face, neck and arms, usually wear long pants if not rub it on my legs too. It keeps them from biting although they’ll come up close and buzz around me, which I don’t like either.

They say citrus and witch hazel is effective. I’ve not found this to be the case.
@Quoththeraven Citronella helps. You can get it in candle form, and it's non-toxic to humans.

Vanilla extract on your arms and legs.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@MrBrownstone I have heard that one a long time ago. Also one lady said that the men love the smell of vanilla, dabbed behind the ears 😂

Staying indoors after the 4th of July 😎.

In all seriousness, even though I live in the mosquito capital of the world (Wisconsin), things are generally ok outside n the summer until about 6:30/7. It's that outdoor yard drinking that gets me really chewed up.

Put a spider nearby.

Maybe more wind would help... but, i don't have the power to play with the wind. 🤔

And, I don't want it too windy.

@perceptivei I was about to send you our constant 40 mph winds
perceptivei · 36-40, F
@SW-User I think those winds aren't necessary to get rid of mosquitoes.
Get a high speed fan, or incense stick or candle. Also you clap on mosquito.

Plant onions or start a smokey fire

Ask them to go away.

Catch one mosquito in a non-lethal trap. Make sure the other mosquitoes are watching, then slowly torture the mosquito in front of them. Tell them that this is what will happen to all of them if they don't leave you alone.

Tanacetum cinerariifolium commonly called the Dalmatian chrysanthemum

The plant is economically important as a natural source of pyrethrin insecticides.

@SW-User stinks
