PEOPLE THESE DAYS-----

I cant understand why -People these days-
would rather go out to grab some fast food on a daily basis instead of making something up at home..

Me? I'm not a good cook and a good home cooked meal is way better than fast food .
Ramrod · 46-50, M
Not everybody has the time or energy to cook at home everyday, if they can afford to eat out it's their choice and their money,,me personally,i have gotten to the point that i stopped going to places like McDonald's for breakfast, the prices have gone thru the roof,it's not that i can't afford it, but refuse too.
SledgeHammer · 46-50, M
@Repete poor clown must be rolling over in his grave right about now...
Lmao
pancakeslam · 41-45, M
@SledgeHammer I cook at home but when I Do visit the Golden arches I always use the app because I got egg McMuffins 2 for 1 deal. with coffee it's like around $5 total
SledgeHammer · 46-50, M
Repete · 61-69, M
Cooking takes a little practice but food always tastes when someone else does the preparing, the cooking and the cleaning up after.
I can cook , some like it, some don’t . For the fussy ones it’s simple, cook it yourself.

Fast food is convenient with a lot less hassle.
Repete · 61-69, M
I agree with you completely home cooked meals are great sometimes the cook is taken for granted, I think. Someone takes the effort to cook a meal maybe offer a helping hand or at least a thank you without the complaints. The complaint department is down the road about 2 miles on the left today ,I think. @SledgeHammer
SledgeHammer · 46-50, M
@Repete yea I understand when taking the time to cook for someone is not appreciated sucks..

I been to the complaint department 2 miles down the road.. it's to the right though..and got a wet sock thrown at me..
Lol

I have never complained after that!
Repete · 61-69, M
I forgot what day it was thanks lol@SledgeHammer
There are a couple painfully obvious reasons. The first being convenience. People would rather grab something on the way home from work than go home and prepare a meal.
I think the pandemic also has people itching to do things that they couldn't do before. Eating out is one of those things.
SledgeHammer · 46-50, M
@SooperSarah fast food can become an addiction...
@SledgeHammer of course. And I think a significant part of that addiction is the convenience.
SledgeHammer · 46-50, M
@SooperSarah can get to be an expensive convenience after a while...
But I can see what you mean
SW-User
There's plenty of simple meals you can make at home that aren't even very time consuming.

Convenience/fast food isn't even all that good!
It serves the purpose of fooling your stomach into believing it got the real deal! lol
People working all day just don't want to be cooking when they get home... for the most part.

I definitely prefer even a very simple home cooked meal.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
I have no choice. Everything I eat I make myself now.

Yet when I could afford it, I went out just for the social experience not that I couldn't cook for myself. Could cook for a dozen, yet no one wants to come here good food or bad.
SledgeHammer · 46-50, M
@DeWayfarer haha... yea I hear ya
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
From time time it's nice and the portions are so big that I can eat leftovers on another day too. There's no way I could make kebab at home. But damn, eating out every day would be pretty expensive, unhealthy, not even worth the money and probably would get old for me way too soon.
Also cooking at home has many different levels too. You don't need to do everything from scratch. Sometimes it can be even "homemade fast food".
SledgeHammer · 46-50, M
@CrazyMusicLover Yea that's home made fast food that's good for you..!

Not like what comes in a greasy lunch bag carry out..

Lol
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
@SledgeHammer I'm not buying tortillas in a plastic package anymore though. Last year we had an open package of those for about 6 months at home and not even mold wanted to touch it. 😅 Now I'm not even sure I want to know what they are really made of.

Yeah all that grease of pizza slices and kebabs looks like it's designed for drinking youth on a Friday night. That's the only time they can come in handy, really. 😆
SledgeHammer · 46-50, M
@CrazyMusicLover believe it or not but back in the day... if there is no grease soaking through the bag... I would think it probably wasnt going to taste good...

Lmao
Fertilization · 36-40, F
I am not included in this list.
I have been cooking ever since I was 18.
So cooking has never been a problem to me.
ozgirl512 · 26-30, F
@Fertilization you know what you getting!
SledgeHammer · 46-50, M
@Fertilization That's what I'm talking about... wish my cooking skills began as early as yours did..

That's cool.!
SledgeHammer · 46-50, M
@ozgirl512 ikr..!?
Sweetpoison · 41-45, F
Sometimes it’s just lazyness 😁
Sweetpoison · 41-45, F
@Repete sometimes i’m just not in the mood to do anything … 😑
Repete · 61-69, M
That’s not lazy that’s your mind saying , I Deserve A Break Today.@Sweetpoison

I hate eating out. I’d prefer to stay in and have something healthy.
SledgeHammer · 46-50, M
@RebelFox it's the best thing
RebelFox · 36-40, F
@SledgeHammer Yes. And you don’t have to deal with people
SledgeHammer · 46-50, M
@RebelFox now that's a plus
Lostpoet · M
Id rather cook my own meals to there's no way you can trust where some pimply headed teenagers hands have been.
SledgeHammer · 46-50, M
@Lostpoet That does cross my mind

Lol
anoderod55 · 61-69, M
Nice to eat out on occasion . I'm a big eater , so i would go broke there . Love to cook and bake . Ingredients are the problem on some parts . If not used it goes to waste . Find an older cook book or check recipes on net . You can do it 🌻
SledgeHammer · 46-50, M
@anoderod55 lol....its like you said,
Eating out every day,,,,I'd go broke!
anoderod55 · 61-69, M
@SledgeHammer Very true 🤔 Just nice on occasion 🌺
SledgeHammer · 46-50, M
@anoderod55 indeed
Torsten · 36-40, M
convenience
Ramrod · 46-50, M
@Torsten nowadays you're going to pay for convenience. lol
SledgeHammer · 46-50, M
@Ramrod and double when you add the gas to get there.

Lol
Torsten · 36-40, M
@Ramrod food at supermarkets is getting pretty costly now also. So convenience and cheaper. I prefer home cooked meals so much more. I am no fan of take away food but get home from work and you just dont feel like whipping up a home cooked feast some days
SW-User
You answered yourself?
SledgeHammer · 46-50, M
@SW-User did I?
I still try to make something up even if I'm not a good cook
4meAndyou · F
I grab fast food once every two or three months. But I do have to admit that when I am tired, which is almost every day at one point or another in the day, I REALLY don't want to cook.
smiler2012 · 56-60
sadly it boils down to two things too convienient and laziness [sledgehammer]
SledgeHammer · 46-50, M
@smiler2012 those are easily chosen facts..
I've made them choices too many of times..
*sigh*
😏
smiler2012 · 56-60
@SledgeHammer 😆so you understand now how easy that option is than go out and make a concerted effort .
SledgeHammer · 46-50, M
@smiler2012 oh I've always known how easy it can be to chose from the both choices... believe me..

But as hard as it is... those choices I've managed to limit to less of.

It is hard though
SW-User
I need to learn how to cook. 🥺
SledgeHammer · 46-50, M
@SW-User I said that to myself never having got in front of a stove.. then I did..

...and I am still leaning..

Lol
SW-User
Yeah I don’t make dishes taste like they should then I give up. I have to keep trying @SledgeHammer
SledgeHammer · 46-50, M
@SW-User yes... try and try again.

First time I made French toast.. omg
I thought I was supposed to add mayonnaise to the eggs when you stir it up..

Like I said.. try and try again till you get it right
Lmao
REMsleep · 41-45, F
People are just busy often leaving home early and getting in late. It takes time to cook, shop, clean
SledgeHammer · 46-50, M
@REMsleep ok THAT, I do get..
I can understand that a little bit
REMsleep · 41-45, F
@SledgeHammer Yeah, I am a great cook and cooking is an art and passion for me yet I find myself rarely able to cook. Maybe twice weekly I cook.
SledgeHammer · 46-50, M
@REMsleep 7 - 2 = 5
5?
That can still be alot of fast food when you can cook in art form..

I'm jus say'n...

You are a busy-body... I get that
That’s just it, though—some people are terrible cooks and a home-cooked meal from them may not taste better.
I can cook pretty well, but sometimes I’m just tired. I prepare a lot of salads, which are healthy, but can take labor-intensive prep work.
SledgeHammer · 46-50, M
@bijouxbroussard "I" was a terrible cook but I'm getting better.
The only way to get better is to keep on I guess.. for some people... not all.

Lol
Chickie · F
It's their body let them eat whatever they want. They know it's not good for them.
SledgeHammer · 46-50, M
@Chickie hold it now... I'm not holding a shot gun to anyone to make them stop... it's just a point of view I'm stating here..
Chickie · F
@SledgeHammer I know what you mean but I kind of don't care what others eat. Anyway stuff like door dash is expensive
SledgeHammer · 46-50, M
@Chickie yea sure... you know,, to each their own. Certainly
