@Fallflower cant wait for this answer

Highly suspect, look for video reviews. IMO the concept isn't bad, there's just a lot that could go wrong.

SW-User
in theory, it should. i would look up reviews on the best product of the sort first.

SW-User
@Justenjoyit that’s how i do... 😌
Elessar · 26-30, M
@BlueMetalChick Is it him?
Or there are more than one? :/

BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@Elessar THOSE FUCKING IDIOTS
Elessar · 26-30, M
All you needed was a bottle of alcohol 70% and a tissue paper. Which I bet costs less than $20 even there ✌️ and for sure is more versatile
This is excellent at only one thing, probably: making its manufacturer richer

@Fallflower It still does it's job, and I'd trust it more than any of these uncertified things
Fallflower · 46-50, F
agreed lol @Elessar
Elessar · 26-30, M
@Fallflower As a plus if you still have some left by the end of the pandemic, you can always make a liquor with it. While the other becomes just the umpteenth forgotten piece of plastic.
Trust me it's advantageous under any and every aspect

Here is the concluding part of a review from OspreyReviews.com
Zero Germ is a poor man’s UV-Sterilizer. The Cell-Phone Sanitizer market has been revolutionized by the Shark Tank PhoneSoap UV Sanitizer. But the PhoneSoap is priced around $60 while the Zero-Germ costs just $30 (including shipping). You can buy two “Zero Germ” sanitizers for $40. Zero Germ is a “cheap” alternative to the PhoneSoap and other cell phone sanitizers.
We do not recommend the Zero Germ, in-fact we do not recommend any special Cell-Phone UV Sanitizer. You could get the same results bu running a UV LIGHT over your cell phones and other things. There is no need to have any special UV-Sanitizer like Zero Germ for sanitizing cell phones.
We would suggest Microphobe UV sanitizing handheld UV light instead available at Amazon.com which can be used to sanitize all your belongings that you handle daily.

Waste. Just a gimmick product taking advantage of our ability to read and understand.
calicuz · 56-60, M
UV light does kill bacteria and it doesn't seem like a bad deal. The only thing in question is how long will it last. If it lasts a year before breaking, I think you got your money's worth.
calicuz · 56-60, M
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@calicuz you used an interesting term sanitize, it may help lower colony counts, but only while the light is on the object.
calicuz · 56-60, M
@samueltyler2
Yes, and UV light may only be effective in conjunction with another sanitizing method.

The box looks like it’s been relocated from Sears to several different K-Mart’s
Thorstormbringer · M
Waste of $. No decent, effective UV light costs only $20! None!
Punches · 46-50, F
@Thorstormbringer I think most lights put off UV rays but not normally enough to kill microscopic life forms.
So they are not techically fibbing about it being a UV light. They are just fudging the truth about it killing anything.

MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
You could put your phone in the sunlight
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
@Fallflower I do know there is a company using ultraviolet light to treat viruses on the inside of the body,so I suspect there is truth in it.
Fallflower · 46-50, F
I’ve heard something about putting the light inside... @MrBrownstone
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
@Fallflower It’s called a healight. Being developed by a tech company. So we will see.
Coppercoil · M
Uv light works.. i work at a large facility that creates adult beverages and everything is run through uv no chems.. its pretty cool. Can't verify this particular devices claims.. check reviews.
Coppercoil · M
@Fallflower It's pretty decent.. right now I'm just happy to be employed. You like your working situation?
Fallflower · 46-50, F
@Coppercoil Yes I do and also happy to be employed
Coppercoil · M
@Fallflower let's have a happy to be working slumber party!!!

SW-User
Waste. Use wipes instead.
Ynotisay · M
They do work to a point. But viral germs can get in to crevices that can't be reached by the light. Jury is still out on its effectiveness with Covid.
Fallflower · 46-50, F
@Ynotisay well that’s more paranoid than I’m willing to get 😑
sciguy18 · M
I just put mine in the wash with a splash of Clorox...
Fallflower · 46-50, F
@sciguy18 Another worthy idea 😁
SmartKat · 61-69, F
Probably a waste of money. You could dampen a clean cloth with a little soapy water (dampen, not make it soaking wet!) and wipe the phone, and probably get just as good results.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@SmartKat Probably better results tbh, most UV germicidal lamps are fake. I've taken a lot of them apart and found they're just blacklights inside, no real UV.
Was it on the “As Seen on TV’’ commercial?
@Fallflower Hey, if you believe it works and makes you feel better, than it wasn’t a waste of money.
Fallflower · 46-50, F
I’m not looking for a placebo effect 🤔@CereBellum
Punches · 46-50, F
@CereBellum probably another piece of junk created by Bulb Head, that same company who designs other crap that will soon be in a landfill.
NCCindy · 36-40, F
The guy at the receiving end of you buying it thinks it's real effective at filling his bank account.
CountScrofula · 41-45, M
They work but uh...
So does just like, cleaning your phone.

Fallflower · 46-50, F

CountScrofula · 41-45, M
@Fallflower FINALLY A WAY TO CLEAN KEYS
you don't need it if you're the only one touching your phone
Fallflower · 46-50, F
but if I touch other stuff at a store, then touch my phone, then touch my face 😱@YukikoAmagi
@Fallflower don't touching stuff 🤣
Fallflower · 46-50, F
I have tried not touching my phone but sometimes it’s just too impossible 😬@YukikoAmagi

SW-User
A waste to me
Northwest · M
I hope you did not blow $20 on this,
Northwest · M
@Fallflower This will not do anything, There are more expensive devices you can get, but for the most part they're out of the general public reach, at this point.
Fallflower · 46-50, F
I have seen youtube ads for $150 gadgets 🙄@Northwest
Northwest · M
@Fallflower I'm sure you have. I would stay clear of ads, for the obvious reasons.

JoePourMan · 61-69, M
Yes I believe they work if used.
Most use them a few times at first then forget about it
Most use them a few times at first then forget about it
That's on the "as seen in TV" section of Walmart. Don't buy it, dude.
Fallflower · 46-50, F
@RedtheEmerald I know but I love that section!
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
It should work.. Downside: UV light has nasty effects on some plastics. Will your phone crumble in your hand after a year?
Fallflower · 46-50, F
@whowasthatmaskedman There are just too many things to worry about
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@Fallflower Just wipe your phone over with something antibacterial and dont allow others to use it. Its not rocket science.😉
Fallflower · 46-50, F
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
It may work, but I can't see why you need it, unless you do some strange things with the phone or loan it to others.
Lostpoet · M
Ultraviolet light does kill germs.
Chevy454 · 46-50, M
It might work, but I wouldn’t care. I’ve wiped my phone down once in probably 6 months
Fallflower · 46-50, F
your phone is like an immunity booster!@Chevy454
Chevy454 · 46-50, M
Yup!!! Haven’t been sick in about 5 years. @Fallflower
PhoenixPhail · M
A quick alcohol wipe would do better.
DukeOfEarle · M
Agreed! @PhoenixPhail
GoodGuyEP · 56-60, M
A waste, I hate phone cases and I like my phone to look shiny and new. I clean mine with micro fiber cloth and spray sanitizer often. It's funny how many people think that I just got a new phone because everyone has cases on theirs and rarely see bare phones!
Fallflower · 46-50, F
@GoodGuyEP i’d be too afraid of dropping it
MarineBob · 56-60, M
Buy it. But I have a garage full of gadgets
Fallflower · 46-50, F
you’re like my dad. he buys all sorts of nonsense. he has a Yes Man doll who tells you you’re amazing when you shake its hand @MarineBob

SW-User
I’d read reviews on it first
Elessar · 26-30, M
@SW-User Reviews are extremely easy to inflate, if you have the money to put in production and distribute these gadgets, for sure you'll take care of the marketing aspects - incl. boosting reviews
Justenjoyit · 61-69, M
Apparently uv light is used in Hospitals to kill bacteria, so if it says what it does then yes.
Elessar · 26-30, M
@Justenjoyit That's a big if. Hard to say if it's UV-C and even if it is, sufficiently powerful.
goagainsttheflow · 31-35, F
it's a waste!
JustEd · 41-45, M
I just stick mine in the dishwasher
Fallflower · 46-50, F
my dishwasher is broken 😢@JustEd
