Is it just me or is anyone else tired of New Year's Eve with those pre recorded TV shows, ticket admission to the pub, that weird Scottish song, having to go out in horrible weather to watch fireworks with huge crowds and then get home in the middle of the night - I could go on ...

It could be worse.
You could be stuck with ' I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! ' for what seems like an eternity. 🫤

I'm happy grabbing an early dinner and home by 9:00.
If lucky, I will stay awake until midnight.

@Teslin that sounds good to me

New Years has never been a big celebration for me.

I used to enjoy New Year's Eve when my wife and I would join our friends at our favorite honky-tonk to party and dance with everyone. Then we would go home and welcome the New Year with sex. Now I go to bed at 11:00 Central time and midnight on the East Coast. If sex happens, it will be before the New Year arrives here.

Neither, imho. I've always felt that New Year's Eve was the night to stay home and away from the amateur drinkers. My late wife and I used to celebrate it in front of the fire place, on the carpet, with a pot of fondue. And forget the New Year's resolution in the sense of the clean slate for a new year. That "weird Scottish song" is about reflecting on the past, celebrating it where appropriate and learning from it where appropriate, and if that leads to resolutions fine.

@dancingtongue Just so long as you don't sing it as Auld Lang "Zyne". Yecch!
RedBaron · M
Just stay home then.
kwood1 · 61-69, M

My Dad used to say that New Year's Eve was "amateur hour" and it's best to avoid it. I think he was right. Too many things can go wrong and I've never quite understood the payoff. .

I want to get through Christmas first. Then I'll worry about New Year's. I already have plans for an early New Year's Eve dinner.
I never do all that so i aint tired of it 😅
Ironicman · 56-60, M
You summed it up perfectly
