Younger folk in our town love to go on rip-roaring pub-crawls in fancy dress, turning the place into one huge party!
I'm way beyond all that.
A quiet evening with a glass of bottled beer, and a tot of whiskey on the stroke of midnight - that perhaps on the front door-step to greet anyone else who pops out of their cosy homes for the occasion. At the rate I drink the Scotch, what's in the cupboard will probably see me out.
Then it's Oh My Goodness, another year gone... and so to bed!
Happy New Year!

@ArishMell What kind of scotch do you like?

I'm at home every year. Once I was with my then-bf at his place and few times went on a nearby hill to watch fireworks but it's a normal day for me except that there's a lot of noise and sulfur smoke outside.

@CrazyMusicLover Ouch that's quite dangerous! Here it's much less intense. Still gives a freight to animals and elderly people unfortunately, but nowhere near as dangerous as you describe.
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
@dimfok It depends on where you are (the city center or places around pubs are more dangerous than other parts in the city) but the news next day always show that it's not hard to be at the wrong place in the wrong time. Then of course, the most affected are usually those who shoot pyrotechnics themselves. Torn off fingers, eye injuries, burns... Last year there was a guy whose face was basically torn off. Tampered fireworks. He lived longer than people expected but of course he didn't make it.

NYE in my city is traditionally celebrated by excessive consumption of alcohol, followed by a lot of shouting, secretion of bodily fluids on the streets, drink-driving, fighting and bitter recrimination . . rounded off with a group visit to the accident & emergency ward to verbally and physically abuse the nursing staff. If you're lucky, you might get to see a firework display in your neighbour's garden so loud that it will literally scare your pets to death.

@SunshineGirl sounds like a horror movie 🍿

Around here it's basically fireworks. People were setting of fireworks on Christmas, if you can believe it.
dimfok · 22-25, M
@LeopoldBloom I like fireworks but they can be very stressful for animals and the elderly so I’ve got a bit of mixed feelings about them
JustNik · 51-55, F
I don’t really anymore. Mostly folks just party here if they’re celebrating.
