New Year’s Eve was a big deal in my 20s but now it’s just a night in that slaps the Christmas feeling out of you…

…and you start to think about going back to 40hr week of office based drudgery.

I'm just glad I'm far away from any firecracker madness...
If I were the Queen of Europe I would impose a huuuge tax on any firecracker (ten times the prices before tax).
And those you use illegal firecrackers would be sentenced to 1 year of forced labor in the swamp.

@MethDozer Someone already blew up our used clothing container... which, among other things, contained my beautiful old overcoat. 😐

@helenS you threw it away? You have a used clothing dumpster at your house?
helenS · 36-40, F
@MethDozer Not at my house, but at the village near my house. It's a charity container which is run by our church community. My coat had been expensive when I bought it (7 years ago perhaps?), and I got a new one from my mother, for Christmas. Those *ssholes who destroyed the container don't know what it means to not have a coat, in winter.

That is so true with me too. Over the years, New Years Eve has gradually gone from a big party to a signal of the return of busy commutes and working class life problems.

@Morvoren 😆very true you can never recapture your youth sadly and bring those good times back again
I'm off out for new years, come on, I'm sure you'll be invited to a last minute party.

Our big celebrations were when we were in our 30's and our group of friends would go out together to celebrate. We usually went to one of our favorite honky-tonks for music and dancing. Now that we are retired, it's just another night, except that my wife tries to get me to stay up later.

I am retired so it's just another night to sleep. My wife and I haven't done or gone anywhere in years.

I'm working both New Year's Eve & the first.
I remember only really ever enjoying a few of them. My best nights were at home getting drunk with my gran.

Exactly back to work

Ah yes, the years of random hook ups at NYE parties. That was a very long time ago now lol.

Had some great New Year's parties in my 20s

Kinda the same for me. It's not a big deal since all us fam aren't usually still together for it after Christmas so it's kinda just meh.
