Please explain the attraction of Disney theme parks?

It seems to be very much a primarily US culture thing.

Why are people who work there all called 'cast members' like they're agreeing as part of their employment contracts to be 'extras' in a Disney movie?

Shanghai Disneyland

thye get called extras,, to make them feel more connected
and I am preety suree there is clause in the contract that give Disny the right to use thier images unlimited

I went as a child and I took my kid there when he was little, but have no interest to go now as an adult with no young children.

When we were there we noted how deeply all the staff bought into the culture of the place. Almost overly nice...😷

@whowasthatmaskedman I've read that the 'cast members' get trained in being 'nice' almost to the point of being Overly Attached Girlfriend 'nice', so that could be a thing.

Disney adults are creepy . Side story : I dated a girl in 1999 whose sister was a “cast member “. Every day some creepy guy would act pervy towards her or grab or pinch her inappropriately. Oftentimes it was a dad posing for photos w his entire family

@AthrillatheHunt I have a friend in the USA who works in the film/tv/animation industry and is wedded to the Disney 'ecosystem'. Kind of creeps me out but she's mid-50's like me so a 'mature fan' of the franchise. I don't think she has any kids.
