What are your traditional holiday Christmas Eve and Christmas Day meals like?

I can tell you what they used to be like when our kids were growing up. Christmas Eve was clam chowder and homemade pizza. Combination of my wife and my childhoods: clam chowder from the British/Germanic roots on my father's side; homemade pizza from my Sicilian wife's. Goose on Christmas Day, partially a nod to A Christmas Carol but largely a recognition we all preferred dark meat to white meat and a goose is all dark.

These days it is more a hodge podge as the holiday schedules have become catch-as-catch can given sons, grandkids, in-laws being spread out. When we are able to gather on Christmas Eve, the clam chowder and homemade pizza tradition is maintained as it is so deeply rooted. But this year oldest son and daughter-in-law are sticking close to home as mountain lions, bobcats, and coyotes have been attacking their livestock. The rest of us actually celebrated Christmas this past Sunday as granddaughter was flying back to Connecticut to be with her fiance on Christmas Day. We had cioppino; a nod to the late wife/mother/Nana who could not be with us. On Christmas Day itself, grandson is taking the rest of us out for Chinese.

For the Last 10 years we haven't done our Christmas on Christmas. We do ours on New Years Eve, because all the kids are grown now and families of their own and its the only time where we can all be at the same place at once for Christmas

By the way, I have 9 grown kids and 13 grandkids soon to be 14. So that's a lot of people to make room for and plan for.

That's why we have a 8 bedroom farmhouse out in the country

I can tell you what they USED to be like.. Chips and dips and cracker and cheeses. Loads of appetizers...like shrimp cocktail, and stuffed celery, and sliced calzone. Pickles and olives and spiced apple rings. We had both ham AND turkey with every side dish imaginable..(nearly)...and loads and loads of cookies, pies and candy.

Since I now live alone, I BRING Christmas dinner to a cantankerous and highly annoying friend...who can't see to drive. HE has decided that he doesn't like ham...(which is what I bought for myself), and he says he is SICK of turkey. AND he says he can no longer eat his former favorite candy...Starlight Mints.

So I had to shift gears very rapidly...and NOW he is getting a Shrimp cocktail ring, beef jerky, an apple pie, a jar of coffee, a pint of half and half, and a bag of Bit O Honey and Mary Jane candies.

SMH. AND he will scold and scold and scold, (because I spent money on him.) SO looking forward to it!!!🤣🤣🤣

We have a silly tradition of having Chinese takeout on Christmas Eve. Christmas Day is a traditional meal of ham, potatoes au gratin, mac n cheese, corn, peas, pumpkin and apple pie.

Not sure about tomorrow. It depends on what is open. Maybe gas station chicken?

I won't do anything because it is a boring day anyway.

For Christmas Eve a ketchup sandwich. And for Christmas a small bowl of cold gruel. And two raisins.
