Christmas time

What’s everyone’s traditions for Christmas?
justanotherone · 51-55, M
For years now we have home-made advent calendar for the kids. It can contain anything really. From a kid nail polish to small chocolate through funny quiz questions. Even christmas movie night tickets.
It takes a lot of preparation time but kids love it. They said many times they are more happy they just don't get the boring "one chocolate a day" type of calendar like others.

Not a holiday that I celebrate.

Drinking. A major blowout.

Lots of traditional decorations. Church on Christmas Eve. Children and grandchildren come to our house for special breakfast on Christmas morning and to open gifts. Dinner with children and grandchildren. It will be different this year since one set of child/grandchildren moved away. Lynn is already dreading Christmas 2025 when all children/grandchildren will be somewhere else and it will just be us. We may have to adopt a family.

In these latter years we often go to our daughter's house for a Christmas eve brunch.
have he decorators do the house for the holidays except for the tree in the family room, make a donation to the ARL, can't forget the homeless cats and dogs, family and friends for Christmas Eve( the feast of the 7 fishes) finish the holidays with a New Years Eve party

Buying everybody ludicrously expensive gifts, having an orgy with my friend group, and eating so much food I start looking like a potato

@Pinkstarburst That is literally my entire ambition this year.

@Harmonium1923 We just have two more months before this one is in the books. I cannot wait to burn each page of my journal this year.

All the regular orthodox traditions for Christmas Eve. Spinning a bread with a coin, break bread, eat baklava, lenten supper, looks something like this

Burn a small oak branch for fortune, people have big fires outside, do some traditions etc
On Christmas day, just rest and enjoy the day.

We eat fish and salad and then go to the christmas tree to unwrap the presents. In Europe we unwrap in the 24th evening. I have always loved the surprise.

🤔.......Rather just skip it......I really don't want to celebrate that type of Holiday....If you want to buy gifts for people, why not just do it during the year......

From the time I was 13, I've always liked setting the Christmas tree on fire with matches, so I can make a video when the fire trucks show up and post them to YouTube for my friends to watch!
My mother makes a birthday cake for Jesus, I'm an Atheist so I sleep in.
