Would you feel creeped out?

I got an alert that a package had been delivered (to my apartment mailbox).
I would usually just stop by my mailbox after work but I have been in my place the last 7 hours so I decided to take a short walk to the mailbox.

When I got there, there was a guy who had apparently just checked his mail and got in his vehicle (right in front of the mailboxes)

I proceeded to go to my mailbox, and he's watching. He pulls out his parking spot, still watching.
My thoughts were, did he see where my mailbox is located, thus noting my address?

I get my package and head back to my apartment. I see him up ahead as he backs into his parking space, and watching me as I walk by.

I turned around as I rounded the corner to go to my apartment (in the next building) and sure enough, he's STILL WATCHING. I don't understand why males stare like this.

I do not live in sketchy apartments nor a sketchy neighborhood.

I'm not sure if it's because of past experiences but I feel a little creeped out.

I most certainly would be concerned if he wasn't living in the area.

This is why you actually should know your own neighbors. Ask them if they have seen him around before. Even in a good neighborhoods this should be a standard practice. Most especially in bad ones.

If he does not live in the area or lives in his car make a police department complaint. Preferably all together. They won't ignore multiple complaints all together at once. It looks bad on them.

@DeWayfarer i think he lives in the next building judging by where he parked. I let someone know.

@rosyhills Even though this is a gated community, we still get transients living in cars that go through the gates and use our parking spaces from time to time.

Especially late at night. Some here do work graveyard shifts and the gate takes a while to close after it opens.

@DeWayfarer yea, thats why I wasn't too concerned with living in a gated apartments. Folks can still get in. Guess i won't be walking to the mailbox anymore 😕. First time i did it and I've been in my place over a year

Maybe he just thought you were attractive and didn't have enough manners not to stare. Then again maybe he is a stalker and planning the worst. It is good that you are situationally aware of what is going on around you, always trust your gut and don't let yourself get cornered. Call the local police and ask for them to check the guy out especially if he isn't part of the complex where you live.

@Roadsterrider Exactly!
rosyhills · 31-35, F
@Roadsterrider i definitely tell someone of situations like this. Told my mom, and the make and model of his vehicle. I'm assuming he lives there since he checked the mailbox
Roadsterrider · 56-60, M
@rosyhills He may have been checking mail for a friend or as you mentioned, just looking for information. If you were my daughter, I would recommend having someone walk with you if you have to go out very late.

There's a guy like that who lives near me...I just ignore him
Oster1 · M
Could be harmless but I would be concerned, too. Just stay alert.
SW-User
Maybe he was deciding in his head, if to rob you
ShaneMckay · 41-45, M
@SW-User Or worse.
ProfessorPlum77 · 70-79, MVIP
It sounds like he was acting like a jerk.
SW-User
That is definitely creepy. Hope you're OK.

I think you have good reason to be creeped out. Id say keep alert but it sounds like you are
ShaneMckay · 41-45, M
@Bushmanoz Now, report it to the police.
Bushmanoz · 61-69, M
@ShaneMckay ..me?
Eddiesolds · 61-69, M
Ya hes a creep. I would have given him the finger
ShaneMckay · 41-45, M
@Eddiesolds That's an excellent way to get a VERY bad reaction.
Eddiesolds · 61-69, M
@ShaneMckay ya you' re right. I was just thinking about me. Not her. Just call me dumb ass
ShaneMckay · 41-45, M
I don't blame you! Did you call the police BEFORE opening the package??

@RupertCornelius yea i have pepper spray and took it with me. Someone told me to consider getting dog spray, as it is stronger. My only fear is the wind blowing it in my own eyes if i ever have to use it

Some men stare because they like what they see. It could be worth noting.
You should always be careful but its also just as likely that he was simply noticing you. Perhaps even trying to see if you lived nearby so he can make note to seek you out one day.
