Fighting it on the physical front, the mental front, the emotional front, toughest battle around. And along the way, even with an understanding about growing older, when the reality truly hits it hits like a ton of bricks. With a newfound understanding and respect for those who’ve already been fighting this battle of a lifetime.

I know it’s tv , but I see on tv , older people being fit and defying the odds or the stereotypes of old age and look and feel better than when they were younger

@Monalisasmith86 Not just on TV. In real life too. I'm 69 and apart from high blood pressure that responds well to pills I feel as fit as ever.
My grandparents were seriously old people by the same age, those who were still alive that is
Modern life is much easier than it was sixty years ago.

@Monalisasmith86 When I visited a dentist in Norway for the first time after moving there I mentioned that my father had dentures before he was sixty and that I was hoping to avoid that. The dentist looked at me as though I had sworn in church and told me in no uncertain terms that dentures were not on the agenda while he was treating me.
He's been treating me now for the last thirty years and I still have all my own teeth , well minus a couple removed as child in England

Cellular senescence is a real thing I'm worried about. At around age 55, the cells in men's bodies literally stop trying to repair themselves. Your immune system stops repairing B and T cells that become damaged over time. If something goes wrong or some problem arises, your body doesn't have the same type of response that it used to when you were younger. It's like trying to fight a modern war with cannons and muskets
That's why I'm eating a bullet when I turn 70. I don't want to deal with all the health problems that my own body isn't even bothering to overcome. Every year of old age is just a battle of attrition

Think happy thoughts - not all the time, of course - but as much as you can.
Don't let your feet swell.

Yes you do! Getting older is not for the faint of heart. ☹

@Musicman I think everyone should try it once!
