How long does it take to lower blood pressure by eating healthier?

Mine has been abnormally high for about a week .

I have been having one sided headaches, and pressure behind my eyes all month.
So it prompted me to check my blood pressure.

I will be getting an eye exam soon and will go-to doctor as soon as I find a new PCP.

I don't eat too terribly. I snack and fruit and eat oatmeal for breakfast most days . Dinner varies between healthy and unhealthy (had pizza yesterday 😞)

Again, I know I need to see a doctor and I will. I just couldn't find info from a reputable place online, at least from my phone I couldn't see reputable sites..just blogs about it

Could be stress related. My cousin is only 28 but her blood pressure goes up to 140/90 sometimes because of her stressful job

Lower your salt and caffeine intake. Drink plenty of water. I once read a study that a couple tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil, one in the morning and one in the evening helps reduce blood pressure significantly over the course of a month. Also exercise. If you’re overweight try to lose weight

@SW-User but headache for a month?? I'm still wanting to get checked out
SW-User
@iamnikki Sure. It’s better to get checked out.
Yes headaches can last longer than that due to different reasons with migraines being one of them especially that you mentioned they’re one-sided. Get well soon

What do you mean by abnormally high? I use CoQ10 to control my bp and it works very well. Your mileage may vary.

@hippyjoe1955 What dosage do you take?
iamnikki · 31-35, F
@hippyjoe1955 my usual blood pressure is around 114 over 76. It was 160 something over 95 today and yesterday.

@iamnikki For a young woman that is getting up there. I hope you can get it under control soon. The headache part is a bit worrisome.

If you drastically change your diet, a couple of weeks. though weight plays a factor.
iamnikki · 31-35, F
@SW-User yes weight plays a factor but I haven't gained but only 5 pounds this year.my normal bp is around 114 over 76

@iamnikki If it's a one time thing, you are probably okay. I would monitor it for a week or two first.
iamnikki · 31-35, F
@SW-User certainly keeping an eye on it

Hard to say how long. But exercise, diet, cutting out salt and reducing stress is the ticket.
smileylovesgaming · 31-35, F
Your just 26 to 30. I say It is just stress

iamlonelyallthetime if you go to the doctor with hypotension [posh name for it ] 😄 they may prescribe medication but a healthy diet is good to to keep your weight down and your blood pressure

Are you exercising frequently?
iamnikki · 31-35, F
@Kavat no but even still, my BP has never been this high
SW-User
You know what the lowest blood pressure is? Zero.
Penny · 46-50, F
have some bananas.
iamnikki · 31-35, F
@Penny I eat those nearly every day. Not because I love them that much but because I do know they help with BP and they are very convenient

@iamnikki you seem young to get hbp. i would def see a doctor especially since it's combined with your other symptoms. hope it's nothing serious.
