My Yoga Teacher is a self-confessed drug addict

Obviously Yoga is not working for my yoga teacher... or at least she must not be practicing it right...to need drugs to cope with life.

Yoga is supposedly the fountain of eternal bliss and health..

I just want to know if there are other people out there whose Yoga teacher is also a drug abuser, and why they told you why they do it.

This is getting weird...each time we get deeper into Yogic psychology, our Yoga teacher talks about getting High.
Actually it can happen very easily. All it would take is someone suffering an injury and it is well documented that the big pharma companies were incentivizing over-prescription of opiates which is the number one reason for the opiate crisis.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow it should though with the right yogic mindset 🤔
@DianaGyana How do you come to that conclusion? Again, it is not magic.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow if they practice what they preach it is supposed to work. But nah seems my guru is broken af
No thing, no practice
Even Yoga,
satisfies all urges.

no thing is perfect.

no thing has all the answers.

I didn't had any regular yoga instructor. But what I observed from interacting with good yogis and reading about the yoga system is that in true sense you should not be ignoring the first two parts of ashtanga yoga, i.e. Yama (abstinences) and Niyama (observances), if you really want to have insight into the bliss.

When you have the strong roots to grow in true sense.

I feel she should not be teaching yoga, it's an insult to yoga, and also defaming Yoga.

People use drugs to open the mind I guess

@AliceNoctem she talked about touching samadhi while doing drugs..Yet I don't think you need to do drugs to be able to meditate and reach higher level of consciousness..drugs may very well lower soul vibrations instead.😱

@DianaGyana no definitely not, I'd say it probably hinders the whole experience

Yoga has never been presented as a substitute, blocker or remedy for drug use or addiction.

Some people use hallucinogenics (not addictive, btw) to reach transcendence. Other just use drugs.

Personally yoga would push me into drug use, but that's just my take.

@Graylight i wonder if she hates her job if she feels pushed to escape
Graylight · 51-55, F
@DianaGyana It's really hard to speculate with so little to go on. For instance, what drug/s does she use? Why? Is she addicted or simply a user? Is there spiritual relevance to her? Etc. Pressure is one bridge to addiction, but it's largely genetic. Bottom line, if you think she's being inauthentic then find a new teacher.
